Which home charger will you choose for your new Kona or Niro

I also went with a Morec Level 2 32A charger. I printed my own holster. Just had the electrical run on Saturday from the far side of my house, now have to wait another 11 days for the car.

I am very impressed with your DIY holster. I notice now that Morec includes a holster, but not when I ordered mine.

Thanks, I can't take credit for the holster design, only the production! The pictures on Amazon show a holster but when I received mine 2 weeks ago, I don't recall seeing one in the box. No big deal, I wasn't going to use it anyways as I wanted an integrated cable holder.
 
Last weekend was installing a charger at home. This week I installed one at the family cottage. I went with a 240V 16A Level 2 Duosida for this install for two reasons:

  • The 120V EVSE included with the car would take too long to charge to return home after a 1 or 2 night stay.
  • A 32A EVSE would require a major rewire.
Total cost was $250 + HST including the breaker, outlet, box, faceplate and EVSE. Once again I printed my own holster.

2P 20 A breaker and #12 wire should handle it. Is that a square D box?
 
What is wrong with installing a NEMA 6-50 receptacle. My dealer says they will supply a level 2 charge cord. Still waiting for my Kona, 6 month wait time! Should be here in Dec.

Is there such a thing as an EVSE to charge 30A at 120V using and RV campsite outlet (TT-30)? And hopefully a cheap one... And not looking for a multi amp/voltage EVSE like the Zencar (which is expensive).

Good idea. AmI wrong but Kona has onboard 7.2kW charger. Why can't I wire 240V directly to Kona without a Charge point or other device. I have 240V 50A in the garage!

In my case I am considering installing a 50A/240V L2 charger, but I could see myself bumping that considerably as I have an extra 100A of service.
I went with a plugged ChargePoint 50A/240 L2. I had the electrician put a NEMA 6-50 plug in the garage. Following advice posted elsewhere around these parts, I had him run a full 4-wire cable and capped off the unused wire, so going 14-50 in the future will be a non-issue. On the charger itself, very slick and clean. Install was a breeze and it hooked right up to the wifi. The state kicked in 50% of the charger cost and the $50 ChargePoint network credit are nice bonuses; would buy again.

How has your charging experience been with the morec so far? Thinking of getting this once I get my Kona
 
see that ChargePoint has UL markings but not TUV or CSA, so what's the difference. And after some research I did at the beginning, I would not use that product anyway, for several other reasons.

Hi R P, can you link me to that other post? Can't seem to find it.. I would like to know why you decided against Charge Point, as I am also considering the Morec

Sorry, one more question. Can you possibly take a picture of the label that shows where it says TUV? Does it say TÜV SÜD, or just TUV without any special characters? Just want to be 100% sure that there isn't some loophole where "TUV" is some other thing, rather than the actual "TÜV SÜD". I keep seeing things around the web (mostly on Amazon) saying insurance doesn't cover if it's just TUV, even though I'm seeing elsewhere that TUV meets the Canadian Electrical Code is SCC accredited (though not CSA, as it's a "competitor" or whatever)
