12v battery replacement

...the Yuasa LN1-MF which is a DIN44 AGM also but designed for EVs and hybrids.

And that is a good thing... the load / charge patterns are rather similar in this case to that of another EV or Hybrid vehicle.
It seems to me that an AGM battery is better suited for the Kona EV than a traditional flooded lead/acid one.
An AGM battery will be more resistant to occasional deep discharges, and the 14.6x charging voltage is suited for AGM chemistry.
Let's not forget, it is maintenance free, and will charge faster.

The only disadvantage is the higher price.

Yeah, mine cost about double but I wanted to test the AGM variety. Could not obtain the Auxiliary Hybrid type above so had to settle for a Stop-Start type.
It's only been in 7 months but is behaving as expected.

Typical 12V behaviour.webp

Thanks Kiwi, din44 it is then.
Hi yes i fitted the din 65 to my Kona remove the four little ridges from the right hand side and part of the lip on the left hand as well, the support ribs for the weight are under the tray and are not altered at all, the battery is then a good fit and after 8 months is proving to be a good match for the on car charging system

Good to hear it worked. Cutting that tray is well past my comfort zone as I'm a stickler for originality. I consider buying a spare tray from S. Korean wrecker to experiment with but in the end I don't really need any more battery capacity. I was hoping the AGM would offer some extra but so far that seems minimal.

I’d like to get a portable jump starter - there are lots for 12 volt batteries - but their amps vary - does anyone know if a 1000amp one is safe to use on my Kona? (We recently had to replace our 12 volt - no big deal, but it seems like a good thing to have if the 12 volt goes sideways and the car will not start)

I use this one, also 1000 amp-works fine;)
