I came here specifically for the HV range issue. 900 miles on my car. Purchased 15 days ago. I had approximately 280 miles of range for HV mode. Then, i filled it up...which took 1.6 gallons of gasoline. The range after fill-up was....280 miles. It never changed. Ive driven it ~ 200 miles since, and maybe 5 of those miles were non-EV mode. I was thinking, perhaps Honda calculates average mpg for HV mode ONLY when using gasoline. For instance, i wanted to see how fast it was in sports mode, so I accelerated briskly the other day to about 70mph. I then switched back to EV mode. Maybe it calculated that average MPG ONLY while accelerating fast and tried to predict the range based on my driving pattern in sport mode? Previously, i used HV mode when driving 160 miles round trip, day 2 of getting my car...and it was 90% highway miles. I averaged around 48 mpg at 75 mph.
Perhaps my low range is due to the few sport mode accelerations...which would have effected my range, had i kept driving the same pattern? Confused really...
Have you had all the Service Bulletin updates done? Also try normal driving in HV for 100 miles to use about 2gal and then fill up. It may need more past HV to make a reasonable estimate.I came here specifically for the HV range issue. 900 miles on my car. Purchased 15 days ago. I had approximately 280 miles of range for HV mode. This exact same thing happened to me today, except in miles. After conversion to kms, it is equivalent to your numbers almost perfectly .My car did something weird this week. My HV range was 610km and then one day, it just started to drop. When I was driving the car, I was confused so I made sure I was in EV mode. I doubled and triple checked to confirm EV mode but the HV range just kept on dropping. It finally stopped at 561km and hasn't changed in 2 days. I drive almost exclusively in EV mode and I've only filled up once in 3 months and I have driven over 4000kms. Do I have any reason to be concerned? Is this a case of the car "recalibrating" the HV range?
OK - how is this for strange ... got the software upgrade - and things appear normal. Filled up Aug 16th. Have used no gas since then. For some background. As of today, I've driven 2691 miles. I have used under 10 gallons of gas total.. My HV range is always 300 to 350 miles.

I went from 356 to 325 without using gas at all. Practically identical to your numbers and another poster's.Same here -almost a month ago. Driving on a full tank, the EV Range dropped over a period of 2 days, stepping suddenly down from 352 mi to 345 and then to 321 miles while driving with no ICE activity. After those stepdowns, it stayed constant for weeks, until I actually ran the ICE, and then it incremental went down appropriately, a tenth of a mile at a time. I don't quite know what was going on, but it put the estimated range into a more realistic estimate. I haven't added any gas since that activity, but I'm hoping when I fill up, it will move back to around the 321 miles, or less.
From this thread , I've concluded that it is calibration. Has it stopped dropping for you? Mine initially did this, but eventually stopped.Same thing happened to me today. Without any ICE activity, the HV range changes from 381mi to 355mi. Do not know why
Yes. It stopped at 355 mile now. I think you are right. It is just calibration. 381 miles range seems too high for 7 gallon with 42 mpgFrom this thread , I've concluded that it is calibration. Has it stopped dropping for you? Mine initially did this, but eventually stopped.
Yes- it is a little aggravating when you think that it may be burning gas when it shouldn't be; but it's not. Just calibrating.
Remember you can see if the gas engine is on via 2 methods. My preferred is to hit info, then Vehicle energy. The engine is on the top of the screen . If you see blue bars coming from the engine icon- you're burning fuel. If not, you're not.Yes. It stopped at 355 mile now. I think you are right. I believe the engine can be running but not providing power to either the wheels or battery, such as when you're going downhill while the engine is doing its warming-up thing. If the engine icon is lit on the Energy Flow screen, the engine is running and you're burning fuel.Remember you can see if the gas engine is on via 2 methods. Wouldn't it make sense to at least charge the battery if it's already running?I believe the engine can be running but not providing power to either the wheels or battery, such as when you're going downhill while the engine is doing its warming-up thing. Yes, but the Clarity does things in HV Mode that I don't understand. Sometimes the engine icon is lit on the Energy Flow screen with no power flowing from it.Wouldn't it make sense to at least charge the battery if it's already running?
Finally had ours done last week. It came out OK, but the days of thinking we had 1000 miles of range are definitely gone for good. Out of the service dept, the range was 210 miles (half a tank plus 40 EV miles). So I suspect the range estimates are going to be pretty close to true from now on. Unfortunately, we only fill that car about once every six weeks, so it'll be another few months before I can confirm that. Our dealer almost insisted that we do all the updates even if we weren't having problems - and I could've probably said no, but there haven't been any issues so far. Not sure why they had to replace the AC controller or some valve - but if it saves us from a problem later on, then fine.
Has anyone else seen falsely high HV ranges reported on the Clarity PHEV? After my last fillup of the 7-gallon tank, it reported 464 HV miles; this time it went to 519!
Unfortunately my highway driving is in practice getting more like the 40-45 mpg advertised. The range only changes when the ICE is running, but falls much faster than the distance I drive, proportional to the amount of gas left.
