That just puts that vehicle at the back of the queue. I would think after x days of delay, they simply assign us the next VIN s to enter production….
I think the point is that being at the back of a moving queue would be better than being in the stalled QC queue. However, having two SEs stuck in the QC lot would be truly heartbreaking.
I get that but am still wondering as to my original question - maybe someone like @DJCoopster with experience in the industry can provide clarity as to why they have not simply assigned us new vehicles? To my simplistic mind it seems like a fair and reasonable solution.
That's why I suggested earlier to place a new order with your dealer, and get refunded for the original (wait until you get delivery of something, though). The new car might get built and delivered faster than the ones stuck in QC timeout.
The trim content changed from what we have ordered. I have black cloth seats on my Sig +, those require Iconic trim to get now. From talking to my sales manager, all Minis are ordered with a specific configuration by the dealerships out of their allotments. None of them are 'batch' built, all are specific configs.
Well folks I just got a call from my MA offering me a car someone backed out on. It happened to be a different color/wheels but everything else is perfect. It's expected to arrive around the 15th of July. I know you all will get some good news soon. I'm still tracking the car stuck in QC so if I see any movement I will let you all know. I'll be around.
Very nice. I'm not sure I'd take a black car but I do love the look. If I were doing Iconic, then I'd get Enigmatic Black.
Yeah my last two cars were white. This will be my first black. My mom has a 22 BRG SE like my profile pic. My ordered car is Island Blue and to be honest I was kind of second guessing myself.
My SA sent me some info his dealer received. It appears the delay related to a supply chain issue: “We have been working to effectively mitigate previously communicated supply chain challenges. While wiring harness sourcing and availability has significantly improved, we continue to see significant impacts related to semiconductors. Due to component supply challenges, current orders may show as in production for an extended time. Unusually Long Production Times - Orders may start production; however, some orders may still require the installation of additional components during later stages of the production process. Orders showing as Produced Not Shipped are expected to be complete with all components. Each model can experience various delay times, however any extended time in production is likely a result of limited component availability. Incomplete orders will remain in Scheduled For/In Production status until the entire build is finalized…”
Unfortunately that's just lip service. These are individual cars pulled off the line for rework. Their build dates are spread out, not grouped together like a parts shortage would indicate. Plenty of cars have been built after ours, with almost identical content, and the SE doesn't have that many options anyway. Mine is a Sig+ in BRG with black cloth seats, no special options/configuration.
I’ve only been 1½th-guessing my Island Blue decision… I love the color, but I was wavering between Island Blue and BRG4, and every time I see pics of a green one, I do wonder.
Maybe one of you guys will get a giant puzzle? https://www.autoblog.com/2022/06/24/mini-customers-get-car-sized-puzzle-delivery-delays/
Right there with ya. Day 46 in Quality Check. I've pretty much resigned myself to them finishing the cars when the factory shuts down in a month and expect to get the car in September. Its easier on me to give myself a timeline. Significant other thought it it would be fun to call our SA. I like him and he is always responsive. I haven't bothered him until now because I know he only knows what we know. When it was mentioned that the car was in quality check for over 6 weeks he let an "oh crap" drop lol then went back into sales speak, telling us the car was at "155", so it was built and waiting for a ship. I don't get the impression dealers run into this issue very often. We didn't let on that we know that 155 is Quality Check and know it is not waiting for a ship. We just let him know if someone drops an order, let us know, to see if we are interested.
