@wally3 has made the most progress. It seems we are usually given generic answers and pointed to talk to a different source, none of whic are at the factory. Wally at least seems to have been escalated to someone higher in the food chain. You can read that post in this thread, and asks Wally to call him back if things haven’t changed in 2 more weeks.
I really think that was just lip service like I got yesterday. I called ASK MINI just for giggles, got a super helpful agent, but again she can't get any more details, and said if it doesn't move in a week to call back and they'll get a case manager assigned to try to get more details. I'm pretty sure that's just lip service to me also.
it’s been just under a month since this thread started. We are 8 pages in, the number of us impacted is growing, and, we still don’t have any real information. I think we deserve a case manager by now…
Sales Support Specialist to Case Manager: "Can I ask you a question about one of those 2,000 MINIs in the QC lot?" Case Manager: "Did you already respond to the valued customer with the approved generic answer?" SSS: "Yes, sir." CM: "Have you waited the required 3 weeks after telling the valued customer to call back if nothing happens in 2 weeks?" SSS: Yes, sir." CM: "OK. You've done your job. You're dismissed." SSS: "Isn't there someone at the factory you can call to get more information?" CM: "No, the factory won't give me their unlisted phone number."
So I have decided to be a little relentless and continue to press forward on all fronts. My MA advised today that he just checked and found there are several other customers at their dealership in the same situation. He is going to reach out to MINI and see what he can find out. Not going to hold my breath.....
Another strange aspect to this - we have had this thread for close to a month and not one of us has seen their vehicle move. No one has come back and said "Today was the day! My car finally left QC." If this is normal, you would expect to see some cars move out of QC.....
Mine’s Iconic. I think it was just a bad batch of something critical; they set the cars aside and haven’t allocated replacement parts and/or time to rectifying the situation because the line is finally running smoothly.
Browsing through other forums, it looks like the scheduling is all over the place. Stuck in QC is also happening to the BMW folks.
I dont know what i would do if i was in this situation. I think this warrants a letter(s) certified return receipt to a few of the top names at BMW and Mini. The wait is one thing, the extra financing costs you will incur as a result of this delay combined with lip service as the only remedy after many weeks should either get you guys a choice of one of the cars coming over that isnt already spoken for, or some schwag like winter mats, etc from the store for the delay and additional costs. When I had an issue with GM I sent a letter to the president of GM and the president of the UAW. The letter started something like it isn't the guys on the line that are ruining the reputation of GM, it is the folks in the ivory tower, yet the guys on the line will pay the price... I got a response lickity split.
For what it's worth, I too wanted to join the ranks among you beautiful people and ordered a Mini SE Iconic. My order has been accepted and final build sheet signed off on 6/10/22. My dealership (Houston, TX) did offer me to get pre approved and hold my finance rate for 120 days. Not sure if that is common practice, but that is what this dealership was offering. My build search started around 5/20/22 and ultimately made the final decision on the above date. In between 5/20/22 and 6/10/22 several thing on the website changed. When I first looked, I could have ordered every option, then one time there was an alarm credit, then there was no availability on the heated steering wheel. Ultimately when I did go an place the order, the alarm wasn't even showing up as an option or credit, but the heated steering wheel was. For the sake of sparing my sales person, I won't mention their name, but we have been in contact frequently since my order. The last thing that I was told is that they internally had a call this week, and supposedly, Mini had made the decision to give the Iconic package orders more importance. Hence, on 6/10 I was told to expect 4 months for the vehicle to arrive, and on that call with my sales person on 6/16, they said closer to 6 months. Therefore, I too, am now worried about the incentives from a timing and expiring scenario. YMMV.
