Hello everyone....stuck in QC for 45 days I noticed something on the Mini USA Website....when you proceed to build your Mini Cooper SE online, there is now a disclaimer. "Due to increased customer demand, production availability of model year 2023 MINIs is limited. The current estimated delivery time for custom-built orders varies depending on trim, packages, and options selected. Delivery times also vary by location. We recommend contacting your preferred MINI dealer for the availability of stock inventory and up to date delivery timing." -Mini USA Website
No fault of his own, but my dealer definitely does not have “up to date delivery timing” for my vehicle lol
… The main reason it rates 6.2 out of 10 on the US News review aggregator, summing up that basically, “if you don’t need a bigger size, and you don’t need more range, then it’s fantastic.“
So - MINI just replied to my follow up tweet from last week. Here’s what they said - Global, industry-wide supply constraints continue to impact auto manufacturing, extending production timeframe & delivery in some cases. Regarding MINI Cooper SE, some vehicles are awaiting arrival of final components at our Oxford plant to complete assembly. Can you DM your VIN? I sent them my VIN and we will see what happens. Not holding my breath.
Well - that was surprisingly quick - here’s the response. Note that this is the first time anyone at MINI has suggested a new date…. Hi Wally - We understand how eager you are to take delivery of your new MINI SE, and we also can’t wait for you to get behind the wheel of it. Our apologies for your frustrations about the delivery timeframe of your vehicle. We are doing our best to get your MINI to you as quickly as possible. It looks like your vehicle is estimated to finish production at the end of July. Please continue working with your MINI dealer.
Ah, end of July agrees with what we've been talking about with it being during their summer shutdown when they can send some rework teams out to finish them.
Yep - I even asked Brandon about that yesterday but he seemed unaware. Will be interesting to see his reply which i should receive by the 5th. We will see if they are in sync. I have pointed MINI to this forum a couple of times - wonder if they are monitoring it?
Depends on which coast you are on. Then probably 1-3 weeks at port and 8-30 days on a ship. Then 1-7 days on a truck to dealership.
How long at the POA? My dealership told me yesterday it’s normal for cars to spend one to three weeks at Halifax Autoport.
I think it varies a bit at differnet ports. I'll be at Baltimore, which usually turns over the cars in one day.
7 week (Day 49) annniversary in Quality Check! Per yestrdays thoughts, if we get released at the end of the month, I would assume the cars won't go to port until manufacturing starts up again. I suspect that would be after mid August. So I'm thinking possibly a mid to late September delivery to Baltimore port/Mini of Alexandria. Do I dare to get excited again? lol
I was kind of hoping for something a little quicker but you are probably right - assuming that the message I received was anything other than kicking the can down the road…
I placed my order on March 9. Only thing custom was leather cross punch seats. Everything indicates it was a missing part during assembly. Original production dat of 5/7 - then bumped to 5/10 and again to 5/16. On the 16th my car entered QC and remains there.
