I ordered End of January. Dealer submitted order March 3rd. My car went into production April 12. Most of us stuck went in around the same time. We have different options and trim levels. There is nothing particularly special about my car and many with similar options have been produced before and after my car. pretty sure they ran out of a part at that specific moment and sSimilat details as @wally3, same time frame. Thought maybe it was the seats or maybe the wheels but others are also stuck from the same time frame with different options. Suspect it’s something all the cars have, but they just ran out at that moment in time.
Brandon was supposed to reply to me today. I will be calling tomorrow to follow up and will ask. For the record, i read that as arriving in US but I’ve clearly been wrong before…
Latest status from Brandon - Per the 'area team' that is overseeing the situation - they are still monitoring and have determined that my vehicle is awaiting parts and is currently scheduled for completion at the end of July. Brandon stressed that this is subject to change. I asked whether this was a completion date or a date that I could expect the car - he stated it is a completion date and that it then would typically be 3 weeks or so to ship to Texas. He added that it could move more quickly but also countered that shipping dates are more uncertain that ever at this point in time. No real new information but at least it aligns with what we have heard from MINI via Twitter. Now to see what my MA says.....I sent him an email this morning but he is out fo the office today and will check tomorrow. Meanwhile I need to stop reading the delivery threads and seeing the cases where people placed orders in late April or May and have gotten their cars...
I had to do that about a week ago. There is a guy in Indianapolis (2 hours from me, same POA) whose car was built the day after mine who took delivery about 2 weeks ago. I'll probably be 2 months after him at least.
My best friend just picked up an ICE mini cooper order yesterday, that some one else had dropped. It hits the production line this Friday. She will have her car in probably 4 weeks. To add salt to the wound - she gets a heated steering wheel.
Living in Texas, I am not overly concerned about the heated steering wheel - supposed to be 106 this weekend. But I get it...now if my car shows up without the Harmon Kardon, that's a different story.... Even Brandon agreed with me that it is maddening that this is random and there is nothing we or he can do to address this. I have expressed concern about rebates and interest rate sgoing up and plan on pressing the dealership to help make me whole - even if that ends up being a few low or no cost options to them, I am hoping they do somehting.
It is quite frustrating, but I guess it’s the price we pay to get a high quality, relatively customized product for non-bespoke $. As someone alluded to in an earlier post, it’s the partial transparency that’s really torturous.
I’m not sure they are back. Not sure when that order was created. Since it’s ICE could have been a long time ago.
Heated steering wheel is a $250 option for both Sig Plus 2.0 (or whatever it's called now) and Iconic, but it is an option. That doesn't mean it won't be removed later.
Whenever I decide to sell this Mini, I'm going to market it as 'Quality Checked by Oxford Mini factory continuously for xx days so you know it's a great car'.
