Torque Pro on the Kona - overview and setup for interested owners

Regarding step 5, the displays (gauges) in Torque are not sent to the screen? You in effect have a different set in AA? Or are you choosing only from gauges in use by Torque?
All of the above. The Android Auto app displays a different set of gauges from the ones in Torque. You select 1 to 6 of the type shown in my photo, with some configuration options. You can pick from the PIDs (sensors) in Torque, including any additional ones you have loaded.

Having used this a bit more - the first time I tested it, the gauges all worked fine. The second time I had Google Maps navigation working too, and the power gauge only updated about half the time, the speed gauge not at all. I'll have to try it again without navigation to see if this is repeatable.

I have Torque Pro up and running, though it's very balky about connecting to the dongle, and I sometimes end up starting all over with a newly paired device. As for OBD2AA, I installed and created some gauges, but I am unable to get it to show up in Android Auto. I'm also confused by why it wants "car's Bluetooth", since AA is running through USB.

BTW the instructions on the XDA page for starting developer mode in AA are incorrect. You have to find the Version Info and tap on that ten times.

The problem is that when I connect the phone and am given the choice between AA and OBD4AA, and choose the latter as advised, Android Auto itself remains unselectable on the Kona's screen.

Thanks. However, for me OBD2AA doesn't show up as a choice in AA.
 
Hey all - is there any means to calculate a more accurate predictor of range by 3rd party app or something similar? iOS fanboy here so devices are a limitation. Route grade (slope) details are easy enough to determine but it would be cool to be able to build a database that would allow a more accurate representation of how the car (‘19) performs ‘outside a vacuum’ (or at least on a frictionless horizontal plain) haha. You can hook up an OBD2 reader to ABRP to let it know your battery SOC. I haven't looked into the exact way on how to do that yet, though.
Unless you want to develop something completely new, that would be the way to go.

Looks like an Arduino or similar was used. Appears practical and it's fairly priced for the effort required to design and manufacture.
I would miss the logging functions in TP.
 
Maximum *available* drive and regen power are directly available from
the BMS, and are especially interesting to watch relative to SOC and pack
temps. Maximum realtime usage is something the app or widget would
have to keep track of, I think... my "obdlink" puts max/min ticks on the
analog-style meters, which is often handier than messing with logging.

I was able to get it working as well with the common blue dongle but it didn't seem to update properly. The AC charging amps as I feared appears to be simply a calculation off the duty cycle rather than actually measured. Konnwei KW902 on order now...

I need help to extract PIDs for my kona from file on android OBd_PIDs-for- HKMC-master .zip
So far I can't achieve that.
When I open Torque pro I do not have list of PIDs !!!
Please help me me I will gladly appreciated .
I do use OBD Veepeak P11.

Torque pro puts little tics into the gages, unless you use only the digital display which doesn't do that.

On the Youtube video page, someone said the max power and max regen values are PIDs. But they aren't in the published PID list for Torque, are they?

No, they are not. At least as long as you want the max Regen that you have achieved on your drive. The only way is to pull it out of a constant monitoring like torque pro does when it runs.

There is a PID for Max available charge power. Not sure when exactly it applies. It could be applicable for Max Regen as well as DC charging. (For tapering and regen limits when battery is full?) But I honestly don't know what it's purpose is.

Maybe my video might be of help how to get it set up: step by step torque pro setup.

You just need to find the PID file in that zip-archive of yours. Compare it to the downloads mentioned in the video for ABRP. If they have the same format you got the right file. Then move it as described in the video.
 
Long afternoon short: I think I have a working PID for LDC current. ID 7E2, mode/pid 2102, math ((Q*256)+P)/100 ...
@hobbit, your work is amazing and I would like to plug it into my PID file. For the simple among us, myself included, could you provide a complete Torque Pro PID replacement line?

In Github select Raw to make the list a CSV file. Save As ..., transfer to your phone, see instructions early in this thread.
