What did you do to your MINI today?

Or ID .Buzz 234 miles with 7 seats as EV
I was just wondering if an ID.Buzz can be rented (in the US) for a road trip, it might be a good option. Right now if I need to road trip with four or more people I guess my F-150 Lightning is a top choice. Good capacity for storing luggage while being comfortable for occupants and it has the bonus of full NACS (Tesla) charging integration, so lots of options on a long trip.

Seeing one in a random photo, I recently learned the Countryman branding goes all the way back to 1960 with the Austin Mini Countryman. Blew my mind. Here's a 1964 Countryman (apparently the wood trim was standard!).
The wood trim didn't come on all versions of the Countryman, as (not) seen on this 1963 model:

I always loved the rear view of the Countryman woodies, like this 1969 Mk II (check out that link for some history on the wooden trim):

Well..you can still get it in polar bear white with seal blood splatter for the ICE models. Not sure if it is as appetizing as pepper white.

What a description, but kudos. And no, Nanuq White is nothing like Pepper White. My last ICE MINI was Pepper White and I liked it quite a bit but Nanuq White to me just says "fleet car" (no offense intended to anyone who likes the white-white.)

Today I almost ran over somebody in the parking garage!

They had parked, gotten out, and were walking towards another employee who had also just parked (their Toyota bz4x, coincidentally), apparently to chat. Just as I passed slowly behind them, though, person #1 took a step backward, and might have walked into my car if person #2 hadn't warned them.

They were still chatting after I had parked, so I apologized, and they both said that they hadn't heard me approaching.

To be fair, there is a new building being constructed next door, so I'm not sure that they would have heard even an ICE vehicle. But, a bit of an eye-opener for sure.

This happened to me back in 2013. I was picking up our 2013 Honda Fit EV at San Francisco Honda on Van Ness. Their service department was one level below street level and that is where they were charging the car. When we were leaving, I was carefully driving out when a parts employee with a handtruck stepped right in front of us, just a few feet away. I was able to stop in time and he said he wasn't really paying attention to his surroundings because he didn't hear any cars. Ever since that experience, I try to be extra careful when driving in parking lots.

How loud is the acoustic protection? I’m always driving so I’ve never heard it. I was standing next to a Honda in a parking lot the other day that sounded like an evacuation siren. I figured being EU certified it had to be pretty loud.

That's a bit of a hard question to answer, but I would say "not loud", or at least not especially noticeable. I say that based observing one of the other SEs that parks in my garage. The sound of the tires seemed to contribute as much to the noise it made as did the electronics. (They were driving faster than most would up the ramp and around the corners, though, mind you...as opposed to the more common lumbering SUVs, etc.)

Today I had an epiphany on the controversial styling of the new models.

The flavortownies are automotively homeless and don't identify with the new direction things are going. Flame tattoos are not looking good...

I like your statement about new designs /automotively homeless / as me living here for 44 years my English is still handicapped 75 years old I went to AI. For explanation of epiphany as in the simplest way to describe a meaning like a light bulb turning on in your head . it’s a sudden “ a - ha ! “ moment where. Truth or insight becomes clear ,often changing the way you view something as for same members older in age will be easy to see older designs look much better than new ones as 2020-2024 SE look the best following Mini Cooper from 60thies .But time change as young people have different perspectives look at a car’s design or don’t own a car at all - biking-Uber- walking ?

I went out today, windows down, hanging out looking like I'm driving an old steam engine locomotive. It is quiet. I really never paid
much attention, attributing to being old and can't see or hear:). I guess I should have known by the way our deer, which hang out
in the entrance to our complex, basically ignore me. Does bimmercode work on the later models? I thought I read that it didn't
work on the last two years.

It works on my '23. I have my tinnitus-blaster turned off 98% of the time now. The inverter and tires are loud enough at neighborhood speeds, and I try to avoid crowded parking lots. I turn the noisemaker on when crawling through the Costco lot.
