What did you do to your MINI today?

The range is dependent on a number of factors. Temperature is certainly one factor. I can drive the same route and get different results with different temperatures. Speed is a factor. When I'm forced to drive on highways with speed limits of 70 (and I'm forced to keep up with traffic or be run over), my energy consumption is much higher. And I always drive in Green+ mode.
Yes, I assume that we all know all those things. What I have been discussing/describing is a ~5% difference in estimated range over multiple trips on the same route at the same speeds at the same time of day at the same time of year and the same sort of weather.

Thanks, great info for when I get mine done.

Try and find an alignment shop that will let you sit in the seat during the alignment. Not sure it makes all the difference I feel on the road but it was fun being a part of the process.

Anyone in the SoCal area, highly recommend Chewerks in La Habra for an alignment.

I put a roof rack wind fairing on my U25 and the whistling has finally stopped! The F56 is definitely more fun to drive like a hooligan, but the U25 BEV is no slouch.

I took my SE in to have all four tires replaced. They are currently at 4mm tread depth, and the manual says to replace them when they have 3mm tread depth. But, I think the hankook tires are manufactured in Hungary, and with the potential for a 50% Trump tax, I thought I'd better get them replaced now than in a month or so. Imagine my surprise when the dealership called to tell me that I had two run-flat tires, and the two original non-run-flat tires. I had gotten two tires replaced last year when the previous tires had gotten low on tread. Shame on me last time for not verifying that I had received the non-run-flat tires that I had requested. (I carry a spare in the boot.)

The dealership also noted that the anti-rust goo (cosmoline?) injected into the bonnet was making marks on the front wheel arches. I was told that they'd either clean that up, or replace them under warranty.

The loaner car that I received was another MINI Cooper SE. (Yay! I wouldn't have reduce my expectations by driving a BMW.) Looks like a previous borrower converted F to C in the car, and modified the colour scheme to be red all of the time. (I kept trying to change the mode out of Sport.)

As I’m talking here about completely different cars why Mini didn’t keep round front lights on newest designs as all Minis should have on for decades a newest SE Countryman obviously is a meter of opinions as to me those squares lights are ugly not any modern or desirable .Porsche did such mistake on 911 and few years 10 yr letter discontinued those shape as a buyers real enthusiast of 911 refuse to buy it and for 60 years they still round on all 911 models Mini should keep that history round lights for good .What is your opinion which you like better ? Here are a pics to compare and 1975 911 owning for 16 years No MORE SOLD to Be stupid!.IMG_2210.webp IMG_2211.webp IMG_2213.webp IMG_2212.webp

As you know to be experience driver if you don’t use a roof rack on daily basis just take off as should be easy to do it to put back you gains a range without but as you don’t care about a range just driving around make no difference just my fought .As I have on front of my SE a bull bar 6” 2 big bulky lights and I close fake hood air intake and install smooth Lexon on a bottom of a car I believe I compensate for all my bulking a car front doing 120 miles on Sport mode all the time which is meeting my driving pattern

I agree, Porsche made a huge mistake with their "fried-egg" headlights. How they lasted for a decade (1997-2006) is difficult to comprehend. Thankfully, Porsche saw "the lights" and returned them to what they should have been.

Oliver Heilmer, MINI's head designer during the creation of the J01 Chinese MINI Cooper, saw fit to retain many of the styling cues we Mini and MINI lovers have come to expect, including the "round" (when viewed face-on) headlights.

Mr. Heilmer had other ideas about the larger vehicles MINI was forced to create to satisfy the SUV-loving US market. I assume he didn't see them as heritage vehicles. He decided he didn't want to make crossovers that simply looked like bigger MINIs. He was confident he and his team could create crossovers with a new style (including squarish headlights) that would appeal to buyers looking for that kind of vehicle. They must have tested these designs and what they ended up with is what they thought would sell.

I appreciate Mr. Heilmer's willingness to retain the round headlights on the J01 MINI Cooper, even though as a US resident I'll never own one. I'm glad I got my SE before cars--especially small cars--no longer made business sense in the SUV-loving US market. I'm glad my last "true" MINI for North America has round headlights.

I appreciate your educated answers as I’m just mechanic simple man from from EU

Managed to get my car to reduce power during autocross runs today. I wasn't full send my first run as I had a very green novice riding shotgun, and it was a really long course I needed to learn. 2nd, 3rd, 4th runs, power was cut to 30s about 70-75 seconds into the run. Looks like that happened at around 108F cell temp. Car auto cooled battery down to 96F as I drove the 1/2 mile back to grid, then stopped cooling them. Bah, won't be able to do laps there (NCCAR) like this. For some perspective, I was 0.4seconds slower than an M3P with all the good autocross mods. He did say that he was having a bad day, though...

As you competing with gas cars with SE do you see big disadvantage is any autocross for EV you with just your skills can compete on the same level .I try to read about NCCAR rules can’t find any EVs autocross specifically for electric car .As I find out is 390 pages of rules 47 classes and basic class / street/street IMG_2244.webp touring/solo spec Coupe /street prepared / street modified/Classic American Muscle Category.Where are you with Mini SE?. If you busy with SE don’t bather to answer as old dud I’m not going for any autocross anymore soon .For fun I show you nice plate but a owner was afraid to put in English on his M8 to be stop everywhere in translation a plate is “To Slow “ in Polish .

My SE has pros and cons compared to gas cars. I compete under SCCA solo rules. Sometimes with SCCA clubs, sometimes with private clubs. NCCAR is a track in NC that gets used for autocross a few times a year.
EV pros: Instant power, there is no lag, no shifting. I just move my foot and the car does what I tell it. Lower cg is also good. It rides flatter than a regular Mini, partly due to the cg being lower, partly because the suspension was raised.
I have a feeling Mini put a lot of effort into suspension tuning. With sway bar tweaks, this things handles brilliantly.
Cons: Weight. I'm 10% heavier than the gas S, with the same skinny wheel options. In street class, wheel width can't be changed.

The car does well on tight, technical courses. On courses with big sweepers and needing acceleration out of them, it does badly. It also does very well in the wet, or maybe that's me?

I've left street class and have 15x9 wheels on the front now. All the grip!
