I do know from an unfortunate mixup when I replaced my Goodyear Eagle F1s there are both a runflat and non-runflat version.

I'm sitting here waiting to hear from the local tire shop when my car will be ready after they mistakenly put the RSC version of the Pirelli P7s on it. This, after I explicitly told them yesterday morning when I dropped it off that I did not want run-flat tires!

Tires! I’m bumping this thread as I’ll be looking for winter (mid-October to mid-April) tires between now and September. It seems that there are fewer and fewer choices for the OEM Mini 16 wheels (195/55R16). I have two sets – Loop Spoke for winter, Victory Spoke for summer. I will continue to run the as-delivered Hankook Ventus Prime3 summer tires for this season and possibly next. The all-season Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus2 tires have performed well but are aging - despite relatively low miles.

I’ve seen numerous posts about Nokian Hakkapeliita tires but not much about the R5 in 195/55R16XL. Anyone running these Hakkas? How much of a range hit does the SE take? Also, has anyone tried Vredestein Quatrac for all-weather winter use? Since the “winter” tires are in use for nearly seven months each year, I don’t want to take much of a performance penalty. It’s frustrating that most newer tires (non-run flat) with improved characteristics are not available in 16-inch.

Maddening! So, are your wheels 16 or 17? Which version of the P7 are you installing?

Especially since I had something similar happen many moons ago, requiring about 100 miles of extra driving and many hours of waiting to fix.

My car came with Pirelli Cinturato P7 (P7C2) 205 45R17 88W XL non-RSC summer tires:

Instead, they installed the version that comes on ICE MINIs:

I have had a good experience with the P7s and haven't seen anything online to convince me to switch, so asked that they replace the originals with exactly the same tire. When the tech called it up on the screen, I queried him as to which version it was and said I wanted the non-RSC version, which he assured me he had located.

Next up, I am waiting to hear that they can't get it . . . which will be even more annoying, since the only reason that I went there in the first place is that I had a slow leak that I believed could be patched. However, they claimed it was too close to the sidewall - even though I could feel something protruding from the dead center of the tread - and offered to replace that tire. But, then I would have had one new and three with 23,000 miles, which seemed less than ideal. That left me in a quandary, as their price for four was 10% more than the MINI dealer, where I have an appointment in 2 weeks. I was headed towards the door to do some thinking/blow off some steam when they offered a buy 3, get 1 free deal that I, now regrettably, accepted.

Argh!!!
