I went for the Juicebox 40 as I wanted the wi-fi, I can look at the stats via an app on my phone. I was fortunate that there was already a 14-50 receptacle on my garage wall, labeled as "welder" inside the breaker panel, with a 50 amp breaker. The app also notifies me when charging is complete. With the receptacle already there, I got the juicebox that has a plug included, which made the install very simple, just the screws for the mounting panel were needed. I put a garden hose holder next to the juicebox to hang the cord on.

For those with a Smart EVSE, do you use the charger scheduler to take advantage of time of use rates or the Clarity’s scheduler? Or both?

I’m using the Juicebox Pro 40 scheduler so that we can charge at public stations without having to change or force the setting.

I have an OpenEVSE and I use the charger schedule. I don't have TOU rates but do it just to even out the load. I have it start after 11 PM.

I use a Juicebox Pro 40 with juicenet bought from Amazon for less than $600. I use SRP and they offer super low rate for charging from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM. The Juicebox Pro 40 connects to WiFi and allows me to schedule charging from that particular period of time. Highland85 posted a picture of that Juicebox model.

We had the electrician install a NEMA 6-50 outlet with a new breaker in our garage today. The Chargepoint unit from Amazon and should be arriving on Thursday. We don't plan to follow any TOU charging schedule since we have excess solar generation every year.

What is everyone's experience with the two cable lengths (18 ft or 25ft)? Do you all prefer one over the other or is it simply a case-by-case basis?

I got the 25 ft just in case I have a project going that needs the car space. This way I can still charge even if I can’t get the car in the garage.
Better to have a few feet too much than 1 inch too short.
I really like being able to track kW and $ with the CP app.

Juicebox Pro 40 comes with a 24ft long cable that you use to plug in the car, and a short 1.5ft cable with a NEMA 14-50 plug. For those who has a Costco membership out there, Costco sells this model online for $550 while Amazon sells it for $580. I bought it from Amazon, then realized that price difference after I already installed it

Got the Chargepoint unit installed a few minutes ago. It looks like the 18 ft configuration is okay but the 25 ft will be better for flexibility as Ken mentioned. That unit will arrive tomorrow and we're planning on swapping out the units. Installation was a breeze.

How do override charging timer?

I forget where I read this (I'm a brand new Clarity EV owner and have read hundreds of pages, thousands of posts in the past few days) but I recall someone mentioning a quick, manual way to override the timer. It had something to do with plugging in, unplugging and replugging? Can anyone here shed some light on this?

Or can this only be achieved by the menu system on the car's dash, and/or the Clarity app?

Someone said just holding down the charge door button of the key fob would initiate a charge and override the timer. Haven't tried it, but trying to keep that in mind should our utility ever go to TOU.

I bought the 25 foot thinking it would be more than needed. But in hindsight it was a better choice. More flexibility where the car can be reached.

But if you always park in the garage and it is less than 18 feet when you factor is the real world distance the cord will travel and not thinking just linear. I didn’t think about ~4 feet being used charger down to ground and ~3 feet ground back up to vehicle. So an 18foot cord is really closer to 10-11 feet linear.

You may prove me wrong, but I don't believe if you have the car scheduled via the Honda in-car timer or HL app, that you can override that and start charging by a command from the EVSE app. To start a charge from the EVSE, I suspect you'd have to have the Honda timer cleared of any schedule. Confirm?

I’ll add this: My HondaLink will let me stop and start a charge but will not let me start a charge if already at 100%, as the “start charging” is grayed out then.
And you can override a ChargePoint schedule just by plugging and unplugging.

Yes, both HondaLink and JuiceNet have to be enabled to get a manual charge going. If either one of them blocking, the manual charge does not go.

Chargepoint 25 footer for me and I’m glad I went wth the longer cord. At first I thought it would be more than I needed but once I installed it I realized how much length you lose going down the wall and up to the car.
