nice, yeah - hit the same recently as well...Ran into a surprise app feature when my tire pressure got low (due to extreme cold). The app showed the same warning as my SE did.

Is anyone who picked up their SE in the past week or so having problems getting the code from the car to setup the app? I tried setting up at the dealer yesterday when I collected the car and the code didn’t appear. The sales manager said that it’s been taking anything for 15 minutes to an hour to come through so I left and came home with instructions to call him if it didn’t arrive. The code didn’t arrive. I tried again last night since the request and code is only active for 3 hours, but again nothing appeared on the car. I deleted the app from my phone (iPhone 13 pro max running iOS 15.2) and tried it again but it still didn’t work. The phone is connecting to the car as CarPlay is working perfectly so it must be a communication thing with the app. I called the dealer back this morning and told them it still hadn’t appeared and they’re looking into it to see what to do. They think plugging in their computer to it might send the code directly, but they need confirmation/ guidance from Mini before they do it. It’s not a big deal as I know they’ll fix it, it’s just a bit of an irritation. These apps really are crucial with EVs to manage charging, preconditioning etc.I know you can do it directly on the car but that’s not always convenient.
There are quite a few suggestions in this thread:

It could be the dealer did not activate the car (something about the ESA). I’d reach out to your MA and ask if they activated the car? I had that issue at first (the car wouldn’t receive the security code). Once the ESA was activated, it automatically paired with my app. I also added the car to my garage around that same time so not sure which one actually did it.

Thanks @DisgruntledSanta. What is the ESA? The sales manager for the dealership was investigating yesterday and confirmed that there had been a bulletin about the issue but not the fix. The car definitely has a data connection as I tried getting the news and weather without my phone being connected and it worked.
I appreciate the offer but I have called Mini’s Connected Services line a couple of times today and they say the services are active and they tried to perform a service update at their end, which didn’t work straight away. They then told me it could take a couple of hours for the change made at their end to be pushed through to the car’s sim. I tried again a couple of hours later and still no code. I called them back and they said to give it 24 hours for the car to update or try driving to another location and then trying it! Given I tried it at the dealer and at home and neither worked, plus I can get news and weather updates on the car, the location isn’t the issue. I had connected services with similar functionality on my X6 and never had a problem. Similarly we have virtually the same app on my wife’s i3 and it works just fine. We don’t live out in the sticks with poor mobile reception so it must be an issue at their end. I explained I was told to give it 24 hours when I picked the car up on Sunday, then another 24 hours yesterday when the dealer allegedly tried something, so yet another 24 hours will have to elapse. If it doesn’t work I will have to wait until I have the V5 registration document and they’ll do it manually. Given the time of year I suspect it may be a while before I see the V5 as it’s delivered by post. It’s gone from a minor annoyance to a real pain in the ***. Not being able to monitor SOC remotely and to set preconditioning etc is disappointing. I know they’ll eventually get it working, it just takes the shine off getting the car a little.I think it is an Electronic Service Agreement? After they submitted it, I got an email from Mini Connected with the terms and conditions, and confirmation that I had been signed up to Mini Connected. I can DM you a copy of the email if you would like?

Tried that with no luck unfortunately.I had a similar issue when I got my SE. I ended up deleting the app, downloading it again, and that seemed to do the trick.
