Yes. Well, they said to bring the car in for a complimentary service, between 2:30 and 4pm, no appointment needed. They called it a service, not inspection, but said it was to check everything over on the car. Took less than half an hour while I was waiting in the customer lounge. I then got a zero cost invoice and was given a box containing the adapter. I was surprised how heavy it was. Since then I have gone to the Tesla supercharger station here in Kingston several times, but have never been able get a charging session started. I am trying to find someone who has been successful so they can try my adapter. Kingston Hyundai do not have a NACS charger, so I can't have the dealer check it out.

Don’t know if it’s the same issue but I was on the phone trying to help my wife use it at a BC Hydro charger. Using the BC Hydro app, it said something like it was getting info from the car but then it would fail. After a few tries we gave up and she waited for a CCS1 to be available. I need to go out and try it myself some time.

Well I can try that, but the app was just downloaded a couple of weeks ago, and seems to be working fine. I am suspicious that the adapter itself may be defective. I need to find someone locally who has been successful with their adapter, then have them try charging with the one I have. This would prove or not if it is defective.

Wildeyed, have you actually used it? Were you able to take on electricity at a Tesla supercharger?

I went to a different BC Hydro NACS station today and the adapter I got from Hyundai recently worked fine. I think the other station was just having a bad day.
Took me a minute to notice there’s a little handle on the bottom of the adapter that you have to press in order to get the NACS plug into it.

Well, my CCS compatibility upgrade (last week) on my 2018 TM3 ran into that exact snag; the actual adapter (not the new motherboard for my charge port controller) was defective, and it took a lot of time and effort to narrow it down to that piece of hardware.

So that's what giving me so much grief.
I will have to try it:(
 
I paid $70 for an adapter on amazon, works just fine. I've used it on both my Kona and my Niro, as well as a Honda Prologue I rented. Not all Tesla stations allow non-tesla, and that would likely be the source of any issues.

I haven't dived into this yet but is there a way to tell which Tesla stations are compatible with non-Tesla EVs? Does the app (which I have not yet downloaded) flag compatible stations?

The one in Kingston at King's Crossing Fashion Outlet is Tesla only.
And yes, the other one at Kingston and the one at Gananoque should work for non-Tesla.
When I first tried to use an adapter, I had the wrong Tesla app (maybe map)? and couldn't figure out how to connect. Got the right app and have had no trouble since.

OK, notwithstanding what your Tesla charger map says, there is only one location of Tesla Superchargers in Kingston, and they are located in the shopping area off Dalton Ave. And they are capable of handling EVs with a NACS adapter. But not mine, don't know for sure but I believe my adapter is defective. Today, I went to the dealership and swapped my adapter for another one, so will try again in a few days and report back.

Using Plugshare, yes, there is only one Tesla Supercharger location shown. Never trust Tesla! But looking at the comments under Checkins, there have been several cars with adapters that couldn't charge. Looking at the same thing at Gananoque, there are no problems reported. In any case, good luck with your NACS adapter.

John. you may be right that the King's Crossing superchargers are Tesla only. I exchanged my adapter for another one and

(Sorry, my computer locked up while I was typing the above......)

OK, starting over....John, you were absolutely correct in you earlier posts. I apologize for contradicting you. There are indeed two Tesla supercharger stations in Kingston. Strangely, they are both off Dalton Avenue, and only a few hundred meters apart from each other. But only one of them supports cars with NACS adapters.

So, to "unconfuse" those who may be trying to follow this thread......

The one at 97 Dalton, at the Kings Crossing shopping area does not support cars with NACS adapters. Only works for Tesla cars

The one across the street at 88 Dalton, near the Panera Bread building, does work for cars with NACS adapters. I proved that this morning, when I plugged in for about 10 minutes. Charging power started at 58 kW and tapered down to 50 kW when the SOC reached 70%. Cost was 57¢ per kWh.

So this is just what JohnDD said in the first place. Sorry about creating the confusion. .....Rick
