Landshark, where did you find the 60 hp maximum output, 60 hp or about 45 KW, from the Clarity's main generator? I could not find that information in my search for Honda Clarity data.

Somewhere on this forum. The document may have been posted by a member who had a subscription to Honda tech data. I had it saved but have since deleted those files along with the lost Watergate tapes.

If some whiz kid says it makes 103hp, I’ll cry Uncle. That said, having driven the car with the battery gauge at 2 bars and the engine revving as high as it seemingly would go, it has considerably less power that when driving in EV at 121hp. It feels like a car with 50-60hp despite what is read on a scan gauge.

I know China has one, but don't know about Europe.

We have it here in Sweden at least, so I guess that also goes for most other countries in the rest of Europe.

(Sorry for the links being in Swedish only)

In my opinion, I think the computer is prioritizing getting power back in to the battery and driving the car is secondary so the engine screams trying to keep up. Maybe I'm wrong? But, the time this has happened to me I have pulled over and turned the car off then back on and it drove normally.

Next time just throw it in Charge mode and slow down. Its just that initial engine start+charging that makes the engine scream. Then it settles out and chills around 3k rpms.

I ran it to zero miles on EV (Battery read 2%) at 65mph 2 days ago. It started to scream 4-5k rpms until the battery got back to around 6% then started to engage direct drive and charge battery.
