Hi guys, not sure if I did something unfixable, but I've been using Bimmercode to change a lot of things in the car, no problems. Today went to the automatic climate control ECU and when I coded the change (turn off automatic air recirc) there was an error while coding. Now all I see is the defrost button continually flashing with the defrost going continually (even when I turn off the AC and turn off the car). Can't turn it off and it's just constantly going...tried to restore but can't do it. This is what I see. I tried reaching out to Stephan through the Bimmercode service button and so far all he's said is to turn off all Bluetooth connections, restart phone and unplug Bluetooth connector (veepeak BLE). None of this has worked.
Does anyone know how to fully turn off the car and reset? I'm thinking that maybe turning off the car completely and on again might make it so I can at least restore the backup in Bimmercode.

On the Clarity forum we reset our cars by disconnecting and reconnecting the 12-Volt battery. After that, the next time we start the Clarity we get a lot of error messages that don't make sense, but they go away and everything's fine.

No I can code everything else, just not the automatic climate control section. The defrost light still keeps blinking (car on or off). Although since the car doesn't fully turn off (which I'm not sure how to even get at the 12v battery) maybe fully turning off the car would reset it? Pressing the defrost button does nothing to change it. And I realized on the drive home today that the AC doesn't work. Fan blows, ac buttons work, but no cold air.
Stephan the Bimmercode guy said just to switch to the enet cable adapter instead of veepeak BLE, so I went ahead and ordered it from Amazon. But I'm not sure why that would fix anything since I can still code stuff with veepeak, just not that section. And no way to restore..

Anyone know how to even do this? Not sure where the 12v is located.

Look under the hood for the red cap with a + on it. It appears you'd have to remove 3 bolts to get underneath the battery cover.

Edit: The more I think about it, your changes are probably saved in memory so a battery reset is probably not worth attempting. I thought Bimmercode saved the original settings so you could put things back to OEM before taking the SE in for service.

I removed those 3 bolts and realized that the plastic piece is actually attached to the much bigger plastic trim that's around the entire top/front near the windshield of the car. The best I could do was slightly lift it up to see the battery. On the positive terminal there's several different things attached to it, which look intimidating and not at all something I should unscrew. I couldn't even see the negative terminal because it was deeper/further back.

In addition, I actually removed those two bolts further behind (you can see in the picture) and still couldn't lift it off. it appears that i have to remove the entire trim piece with all the different plastic pieces to take it off? or maybe I'm just not doing it right..

I know the changes are saved in the memory, but for some reason bimmercode won't recognize the ECU so that I can restore the memory.. If you look at the pics I attached above, that's all bimmercode says, which is coding data invalid, then when I click on it, it says coding data invalid, recovery. Then when i click on recovery it says restoring failed, data could not be restored...
I really hope the problem is just veepeak vs using enet cable like Stephan suggests, but if that doesn't work, does anyone have any suggestions on how to reset this friggin AC unit? The only other idea I had was to just wait it out until the mini went into "hibernation" mode" to see if that would work to reset anything.

The sad thing is I just bought this car 2 weeks ago, so not even sure if the dealer would fix this/reset ecu under warranty or not...

Sorry. I couldn't have imagined MINI would have made access to the battery so difficult.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S21. I do have an unused iPhone lying around I can use. Have to figure out how to transfer my backups over. And I would have to pay for Bimmercode again... Maybe I'll just wait for the enet cable and try with that first.

Last night the supder loud fan inside the hood ran all night while the car was plugged in, turned off when car was unplugged. Really wish I knew how to fix this. Do you think the dealer would help me out under warranty? Or no since I used Bimmercode? I guess the only good thing is since I don't have HVAC I just put it in green plus all the time.

That is normal. The batteries get warm when they are charging and the cooling system is running.

You should try https://bimmer-remote.com/ to see if they can help fix the issue with coding.

I'm talking about tornado fan loud sounds that ran for 12 hrs waking my in laws. This had never happened before when I charged overnight, only last night after this AC ECU issue. Defrost light still blinking continually with no ability to use AC.

Yikes. That is probably because the AC is not working.

Googling: bimmercode "coding data invalid" has lots of posts in different forums that says you should use enet cable and E-Sys to fix it. There are companies like the one I posted above, that can help too.

Thanks for the posts! Looked quickly through them E-sys looks way more complicated than bimmercode! Posts look like they're all about the front electronic module, wondering if the procedures for the AC are similar. Problem is I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm going to try to do a video of me using the enet cable tomorrow with bimmercode to see if it will restore and show Bimmercode support if it doesn't work. I'm also hoping that the bimmer remote people might be able to help.

Oh and whatever's going on with the AC is draining the battery at rest. Parked the car at work at 8am at 84 percent, just saw it now at noon at 81 percent...
