Definitely keeping an eye on it but not ready to make the leap from my Clarity PHEV. Maybe once the Rav4 Prime has a model year or two under its belt and I have read a few reviews I will make the leap. I do not like the idea of going to less EV range but the R4P does check many of the boxes on my wish list.

Waltzed into my local So Cal Dealer....don’t even have a list fir vehicle. Says he’ll call when he gets the lowdown. Says anywhere from 2 months to 6 months away....he wasn’t very helpful. Anyone else heard anything about release?

Any chance of Federal Tax credits similar to Prius Prime?

Little news on the release at all, or the final details (e.g., mileage rating), but I remain quite interested. My niece bought just a hybrid RAV4 and I recently got to ride in it. It is quite impressive, roomy, well constructed etc. She is consistently getting in the high 30s for mpg in the Phoenix area. But, one thing that she does not like is that the rear seats do not come close to folding flat, but fold only partially down leaving quite a bump, making it awkward to put some things in the otherwise roomy cargo area. She speculates this was necessary to fit the battery in, but it is a tiny hybrid battery relative to the one that will be in the RAV4 prime, so it worries me that the Prime cargo area might also not have fold-flat seats and may lose volume...you may want to look at one before buying if this is a concern.

I was keeping an eye on when the RAV 4 Prime will be available in Canada. I checked today with the local dealer here in Ontario, the sales person told me that the RAV 4 Prime will NOT available in Ontario this year. It will be available in Quebec where there is larger government rebate. I already have a Clarity PHEV and is looking forward to replace my Toyota Highlander with the RAV 4 Prime. What a bummer if it is true. I will have to wait for another year then. Anyone has checked with their local dealers in Canada on the RAV 4 Prime ?

Re: Canada. I'm based in BC, ordered early January and am 3rd on the list. I called another dealer and by that time they had 20 people waitlisted. I was informed by the dealer that Canadian cars won't be coming in until January at the earliest and getting mixed messages as to how the allocation will take place. Watching a recent video, that had internal toyota dealership info, it sounds like 1 / dealer in the US to start, but then TBD. Interesting to hear about Quebec being prioritized, it sounds like anywhere the Gov rebate is in place will work - the question for BC is whether it will qualify now due to the higher baseline cost. This will be significant in the decision between the Rav4 and the Ford Escape as it is getting good EV range numbers now.

Heard from dealers in the Atlanta area that the southeast isn't getting any rav4 prime this year. Sucks...

Now looking at dealers in CT, MD, NJ, CA.
Hopefully someone has one at XSE level...

Otherwise I'll end up with a volt!

So far 5 different dealers have quoted me a 10k mark up on their first car available. No luck yet with any without a mark up.

I wonder how they all came to land on the same amount for the markup (not to take the thread off-topic or anything. Just a thought that came to me.)

Over on reddit, people seem to be finding dealers without mark up. I just can't seem to find them. Lol

In light of some dealers marking up the price by as much as $10,000, can we also add that sort of info here if you have it? (We could also start a new thread with the markups being added by various dealerships so people can avoid the worst ones.)
Really good idea, this kind of price gouging often occurs when the demand is high and the supply is low. A data base of reasonable prices would help to avoid the issue and hopefully get the message across.;)

I ordered my RAV4 Prime last week from a dealer in DFW (TX) at full MSRP, no markup. $500 down. Selected my trim, colors, options, etc. Expected delivery is 8-12 weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed.

No markup is great! Please feel free to share the name of the dealer , if you like, and how it goes. Of course, we'd also love it if you start a thread after delivery to show it off and tell us your impressions. Will this be your first plug-in vehicle?

That's excellent, and a short wait to boot - look forward to a picture:)

I ordered my Rav4 Prime from Clifton Poe at Family Toyota of Arlington (TX). I currently drive a 2012 Prius, so the Rav4 will be my first plug in hybrid. I cant wait to get it!

Can you say whether you are paying MSRP? Some dealers have tacked on as much as $10,000 to the price, so we'd like to let people know about dealerships that aren't doing this.
