My exact issue. The inside trim are black seats with these red lines. Seems only fitting if you get the Metallic Red exterior paint. Other color options, maybe even cleaner w/o those red lines would be ideal.
I also test drove an XSE in battery-only mode, and it seemed louder to me than a Tesla or a Clarity. The road was suburban and smooth. The dealership was in the East Bay (San Francisco region) and the sticker price was marked up by $10K to $61K. They were willing to negotiate, but not down to MSRP.
I bought the XSE fully loaded at sticker after waiting almost a year. Longo Toyota, huge dealer in El Monte CA. My small local dealer now has 2 cars at 10k over sticker, I would not pay that much. That basically would negate the 10k in incentives, 7.5k in fed tax credit and $1000 or my 3500 CA state refund . As for red stitching, I wasn't a big fan when I read about it and saw photos. 3 months in with the car, it isn't even a factor and the fun of driving it outweighs any negatives. I never had expensive cars, and I keep cars a long time. I moved up from a 2001 V6 Camry, which has a way quieter and better ride than my wife's 2013 Honda Civic, so the Rav is even quieter for me, especially on battery. Very comfortable also. It only makes a lot of noise when I force a charge with the charge button, but I usually don't use it. As far as full electric and pricier cars, I haven't driven any, but unless it was a second car for commuting, I'm not ready to go full electric and hunt for charge stations on a long trip. In 10 years, it's projected to be mandated, only electric cars sold here, as you know as a CA resident. We'll also have many more safety and "self driving" features by then, of which the Prime has many. The features help, but the sensor on the wheel which monitors hands on keeps people honest if they think they can get lazy and stop paying attention to the road. I am loving adaptive cruise control and the HUD was well worth the upgrade for me. One con is it is problematic with polarized sunglasses and in some light conditions. No regrets, but I suggest interested people find an MSRP dealer, even if they have to travel a few hundred miles, and place an order for the next batch if that's doable. Don't pay that markup unless they just hit the lottery, it's similar to the thieving markup I faced for the standard hybrid in 2020. Glad I found out about the Prime back then, I love it.
