I got the same, AFTER they'd already sent me the .bin files  Not quite sure what that's about. But the update does work with the dual-camera. The dual requires 3 .bin files, the front-only cam only needs one .bin. I updated my HiHy camera as well, very simple.

I wasn't going to screw the rear cam in either, but decided the holes are small enough they'd be easy to plug if I decided to remove it. The adhesive wasn't adequate for me either, maybe due to heat, but using my trunk several times a day there's no way that thing would hold it reliably in place.

I had a roll of some 3M adhesive tape so I threw it on there to see how it holds up.

The first week I had my SE I took the plunge and drilled a hole to mount my interior brake-light LED. Perhaps use tape to get your rear-camera position finalized and then drill the holes. If the prospective next owner of your SE complains about the holes, take $10 off your asking price.

I had a roll of 3M adhesive tape laying around so I used a piece of that which seems to hold much better for now. We'll see how it lasts.

Once I get a camera that actually works (they've sent a replacement), and I know I like it, I'll entertain using screws to secure it.

I wouldn't think twice about trusting the 3M double sided tape, automakers frequently use that stuff to attach some of the useless trim on the "sport" models like spoilers and side skirts. If it's good enough for that, it should have no problem with a camera

I just ordered one of these cams, since my car's status just changed to In Transit. I'm liking the stealth style of this one, didn't want to clutter up the windshield.

I've actually taken the camera apart a couple times to assess the ease of installation, if you position the wires in the space that is afforded, it's actually an easy feat, takes <5 minutes. The worst part is getting lighting and breaking your neck trying to see clearly. I pulled the seat all the up to help.

On the user manual, it says there is a camera installed near the interior mirror and used by some intelligent features.
Is the Fitcamx working well with that camera?
Does the Fitcamx disturb that camera and cause issues of intelligent features such as "Camera-based cruise control"?

Is there GPS info recorded by Fitcamx cam?

While I'm waiting on a replacement FitcamX since my original was DOA, it's been installed for two weeks and I've used lots of active cruise in that time without issue. So no, it doesn't seem to interfere with the active cruise camera.

    Thanks for your response.
Now the only thing that makes me hesitated is GPS info.
It looks like Fitcamx doesn't record GPS info while recording videos.

Sorry, didn't see that additional question, but you're correct. No GPS info.

Just got another question, how about the night vision for both front and rear cameras?

To add to the camera interference, it's completely separate from the camera-guided adaptive cruise control, and has not had any impact on it's performance, the wipers, etc. I attached a pic, you can see how it is not in FOV. It does NOT have GPS data, and does not record speed (a good thing, for me :D) Night vision is quite good, it's not infrared, but shows things well that are illuminated by your headlights. I'll try to get a capture for the rear, as I haven't really looked at that in the dark. Actually, just found a video in the dark with the rear, there's a fair amount of glare from approaching headlights, and you probably couldn't detect a license plate number at night.

Just wanted to give an update:

Received my replacement FitcamX and turns out it was the wiring harness that was bad on the original. Everything's up and running great!

Also great news - the new cam came with firmware pre-installed that allowed 3-min loops!

Been meaning to ask since installing mine, does everyone else's have a little wiggle/play?

Mine's been solid, and video footage is as well. You may want to make sure you've attached the housing flush with the windshield, make sure you don't slide the pieces together until they're both flat against the glass.

  21. Got my mini this week and this was my first part installed (after a stubby antenna).

Installation sucked, and I lost an SD card into the center speaker depths after it shot across the dash and bounced off the window, but the camera works pretty nicely and looks stock once you get it all tucked back together.

Aw, Nick, I'm sorry you didn't heed my warnings about the Vortex. Good thing these cards are a dime a dozen. I haven't even tried to find mine since I lost the first one. Anywho, the installation becomes exponentially easier the more you do it. The camera has been perfect for months now, for me, and I just captured footage of a high-speed accident right in front of me, which I didn't see until I was going around it. I tell Siri to make a note of the time, and I go back and look at the video and marvel at my good luck! If you don't have the 3 minute footage option let me know and I'll send you the upgrade .bid files.

Looks like they’re currently out of stock of the 4k dual cam (I know the rear is 1080).
    1. Has anyone ordered the 2K version? Trying to see if it’s sufficient to make out license plates. Or just get the 4K front and buy a rear cam elsewhere that plugs into the rear 12v outlet.
    2. I see that the rear cam is mounted on the hatch. The cable runs along the rear window trim, but how does it route to the front cam? Is part of the cable visible when you open the trunk? On some cars it’s routed within a wiring harness sheath so it remains hidden but that’s a more involved installation.
