  3. My MiniSE just hit port after it's time on a boat, finally pulled the trigger on one of these so I can get it installed near delivery time.
Thanks for doing the research and sharing! Looks like a great integrated option.

Yeah, but the whole point is to not have another massive windshield dongle in your face. Not sure what the change in in the 2.0 functionality is, but it doesn't address the eyesore of a massive box in your line-of-sight.

Not sure about the car eye (seems overpriced to me) but my Garmin dashcam is mounted to the windshield and completely hidden from my line of sight by the rear view mirror.

I've had enough dashcams die over the past couple of years that I want something as simple to replace as possible. Hopefully the Garmin will last longer...

or as I'm experiencing now, a windshield replacement means reverting it to stock first, then reinstalling on the new glass. already snapped a small clip on the FitCamX, plastic is a bit more brittle than stock. a little garmin sticky base would have been a 2 minute swap.

Where did you get the update to do 3-min clips?

Also - Are the lights on it supposed to stay on, it looks like mine is coming on and then after a bit the lights turn off. Can't tell if it's actually cutting power or what...

yes, mine appears to keep lights on when the device is on

Yea, I've realized that it isn't staying powered on. Not sure what's up.

Did you plug into the right spot? I didn't at first and had issues. There is a black connector at the top which looks correct, but it is not. Further down there is a purple/maroon color connector - that's the one you want. If that doesn't work, you can run the camera outside of the vehicle with 12v power to black and yellow wires. Very possible the unit is bad or damaged too. Little effort went into protecting the ribbon cables and power connectors.

I actually initially used the wrong connector but found the post on here explaining the correct 3-wire one to use. It was a bit of a pain trying to fit wires/connectors/harnesses so I'm hoping I didn't damage something.

The manufacturer sent me 3 .bin files to install. I'll try to upload as a .zip. (Dang -- apparently 6MB is too big for the forum, and can't upload individual .bin files...) You erase your card (or any other card), install the 3 .bin files, insert into the camera and turn on the car. It should only take about a minute, then you can format the car within the phone app and you're good to go, or replace the card with the original.

Sent you a PM to see if you could e-mail them to me.

Emailed the files! Hope that helps!

    Thanks for that!

Installed fine (I know it worked because the Wifi name changed and I was able to quickly change the recording length to 3-min and the resolution), but unfortunately the camera still powers off after a minute or so.

Really looking like it's a dud, which sucks. Hopefully I can get assistance since I've already ran the rear camera cord and all.

Sounds like you're right. Be sure to email them your order number and model you had, they should be quick to replace it. My little SD-card slot stopped locking in, wouldn't take the card, they sent a replacement immediately. Once you've installed initially, it's pretty easy to pop that puppy back in, no need to sweat re-wiring the whole thing.

I was told through the Aliexpress chat with them that the dual camera version does not support 3-minute clips "since the files would be too large" as well. So that's interesting...

Especially interesting since @drdunkyn has the dual camera version

Yea - he sent me the firmware and I was able to apply it and get the options. Unfortunately it didn't fix my issue of the camera turning off after 30sec-1min.

I was able to get a replacement ordered. They requested that I place an order for $1 to do so (strange, but I guess it allows them to do everything through aliexpress order systems that way).

How do you have your rear camera attached? I attached it to the plastic behind the window brake light, but the included sticky pad must not be up to holding it (especially with how hard the hatch closes). I'm not willing to put screws through the plastic, just curious what you did. Mine just keeps falling and handing there. (not that it's currently in use...)
