  1. On the rain sensor powered version if adding the rear camera does the rear camera also get it's power from the rain sensor? Or do you have to plug the rear camera into the power outlet? Also I was wondering if the rear camera is easily visible through the rear glass to the person in back of you. Or does the glass tint kind of hide it? Any problems with people in back of you not liking the camera in their face is what I am asking? I also have a drone that I use for real estate and some people get upset with cameras. I was wondering if there have been any issues with camera in back window pointing at them?

Should be about 6.4hrs at 4k, or 4x that at 2k.

    YUL
Oh wow, so it doesn’t hog up much space on the card for utilities and swap. /var might be in RAM somewhere?

The rear camera is wired from the front, and tucked under the headliner. I have tinted all my windows, but the rear camera is barely visible regardless, even without the tint I don't think it would be noticeable. WITH the tint it's absolutely invisible. I would have no worries about whether anyone could see it, it's very discrete.

Seems to me that if drivers behind you have issues with a camera in their face, that might mean they should back off and quit tailgating.

Mine arrived yesterday, tried install but no power... I think the included harness isn't pinned right. It has 3 pins (12+, ACC, GND) but my rain sensor has 2 pins which connect to ACC and GND. Pulled out a bench power supply to test in isolation and it booted right up - but only when powering 12+ and GND. Powering like the rain sensor does nothing. Possible my FitcamX unit is different or maybe my rain sensor is. Definitely not working out of the box.

I assume no one here had that issue?

Make sure you're plugging into the right plug. The rain sensor has 3 pins. And it's the hardest to access. Not the first to have this problem, but it's probably you. This is not a difficult install, just make sure you're doing it right.

It's the one right at the headliner, towards the right? Edit: If so, it slots in just fine, it is an identical 3 pin connector but only 2 wires are actually populated from the OE side.

I see now, someone before said it's a hidden red plug. Will have to go looking for that later. Instructions are a youtube video on a different model so it's understandable how you'd pick the first identical looking thing to plug into.

Yeah, there's a larger plug more central, the one you want is the uppermost, IIRC.

  14. Ordered mine today. I ordered the front only. I have a 2021 Corvette that has the PDR recorder and I love it! So, I figured it would be nice to have in the Cooper too.

Another little tid-bit, I did the update and got the 3-minute clip option. As I was reviewing the footage (and review only takes about 2 seconds to load to watch), I noticed that the camera started recording when the car entered pre-conditioning mode. That could be 5 minutes or 30 minutes depending on what your temperature needs are. It was 90F today in the East Bay valley so I got about 30 minutes of footage before I even got to my SE. Not a huge deal for storage space consumption, and nothing for vehicle battery, just an observation. It was interesting to see who was leaving work early! ;)

I just ordered one of these too from AliExpress per everyone's recommendations.

Mine arrived yesterday, pretty quick shipping considering. My SE is scheduled to arrive in Baltimore Thursday, so won't be able to test till 1st or 2nd week in June.

Thanks for posting this. I'm impressed with the quality even with the sun glaring into the lens. Definitely would have enough detail in case of an accident.

I ordered mine directly from the manufacturer 8 days ago since I wanted one freshly made but unfortunately it’s gonna be a while since it’s on the slow boat from China. Last update says ShaTian, DongGuan. If you want one quick I suggest ordering from Amazon or some such place mentioned earlier in this thread.

I ordered mine direct too, from the date it was actually picked up in China, mine only took 8 days until USPS delivered it.

However, it was missing the cable for the rear camera, but I sent them an email, including a photo of what was in the box I received, and they sent a replacement, which will still arrive in advance of the Mini being delivered, so no problem.

Yep, B. Also, ordering from AliExpress took 2+ weeks so don't regret your source. Scoot the seat forward while installing to avoid the c-spine strain. It's not as bad as it seems. Glad you guys are jumping on board AFTER the upgrade to allow 3 minute videos. Really love this camera, need to break myself from the addiction of reviewing A-holes on the road, which I now notice far more often, just so I can curse them in the post-production after party...
