What did I do to my Mini today? I was driving home from coffee with the guys this morning and drove over a patch job on the street. Immediately bells and whistles went off telling me to stop immediately. I could feel the car pulling to the right. Pulled over, got out, and saw immediately that BOTH the front right and the rear right were flat. I pulled out my handy air pump to re-inflate both tires. The pump would not go more than 15 psi. No jack, no tools in the car. The car said I should call Mini Roadside Service, so I did. MRS asked several questions (including asking if anyone was hurt and to verify my VIN). They called back saying that a tow truck would be there in less than 180 minutes. When the truck arrived, I asked if I could be towed home instead of to the dealer (closed for Memorial Day). The driver said no, not unless MRS approved going out of the area. Went to the dealer, and called my daughter to come and get me. I didn't want to wait until tomorrow, so we loaded my winter tires in her car, took tools (including a jack), and went back to the dealer. I changed both flats for winters and decided to drive home with two different sets of tires. Not recommended, although the only problem I had was the car telling me something was wrong with the inflation. (My winter tires don't have pressure sensors.). Tomorrow, I've got to go to the nearest tire dealer for new summer tires. (They were getting well-worn, I was just hoping to wait until fall.) Not exactly the best way to spend Memorial Day.
