Tires (Summer/Winter/All-Season)

I honestly considered flying down and bringing them back as checked luggage, but I'd need to rent a car there, get the tires removed and discarded, and get the wheels boxed up. Even with my cheap flights, I'd still be in this for a swack of dough and plenty of hassle.
 
Hello all,
Just picked up my 2024 SE today. It's got Hankook Ventus V1 evo3, which are.. not so great when it's around freezing temps here in sunny MA at present, at least it's dry.
Two things I need to confirm. 1) Bolt pattern is 5x112? I've seen some used winter tires that might be good, although many countryman owners don't know their wheel patterns are 5x120. 2) My manual says tire pressure is measured by wheel rotational speed, so does that mean TPMS sensors are not needed? My son drives a 2016 Mazda6 and I think it may use a similar system. I don't recall the winter tires and wheels we bought for him having TPMS sensors and he says the "6" relearns the winter wheels after a few miles.

Bumping this thread to solicit suggestions for tires. I've had the Firestone Indy 500 for almost 2 years now. They're on sale again at Costco for $140 each. Any other suggestions for something reasonably priced?

I don't AX (and would likely have a separate set of wheels if I did), so I'm likely going to stick with the Eagle F1s. Very pleased overall. I'd switch to Michelin PS4Ses if the price weren't crazy (and if the 205 size were available).

Consider Nokian if you have weather around 40’ F once a while and they specify for EVs cars They new for 2024 .I have them older model WRG-4 on Subaru and to me they excellent tires all weather . Right now I’m on Hankooks I like them but this year I’m getting Remedy as second set for cold weather ATTACH=full]22418[/ATTACH] IMG_1416.webp

I had Nokians for our snow vehicle, but where we live, no snow/ice (S CA), so only interested in summer/high performance tires.

Those Remedy WRG5s look intriguing, but I wonder how they compare in the summer time to summer-only tires. I don't think many EVs handle like the SE, so they may be good for most EVs but would there be a noticeable difference between the Eagle F1s or Hankooks and the Nokia's?
 
I should add that I want a set as "intermediates" for late fall and early spring, when it's quite frankly too mild for true winter tires, but illegal (in Quebec) to be on a tire without the mountain-snowflake symbol.

I have the Goodyear Eagle F1 tires at a bit over 25K miles, but I need to replace them because I hit a huge pothole at 70mph and have a bubble on the sidewall now. I'd like to replace them with the same, but my nearest MINI dealer is 3 hours away. The tires seem hard to find, but Walmart seems to have them. Do these seem like the right ones? Other than that, I'm thinking maybe the Firestone Indy 500, which they have at Costco and are cheaper and maybe more convenient since it's Costco. Costco also has the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4, but I live in Florida and have been doing fine on the summer tires.

Anyone with the Firestone or Michelin, have you experienced a big loss in range? I don't usually need it, except when I had to drive to my dealer for the 2-year service. On the way back I got back with 7% left, and there's only one charging spot on the way.

That Goodyear Eagle F1 tire bears the star that indicates it's BMW approved, so that's the one.

During my normal commute, I didn't notice a drop in range on my Indy 500s from my stock hankooks, but they're definitely stickier, so it's likely.

I can't get the Michelins in 16", but I didn't want an all season in S CA, anyway.

Nokian for 16” rim don’t have OM size 195/55/16 but next size is ok 205/55/16 and WRG-4 is perfect tire all weather tire with low rolling resistance design for EV read all specifications on that tire can’t bit a price they will be good in CA too IMG_1423.webp IMG_1422.webp

Thank you! Decided to order the Goodyears since I've liked them and I know what I'm getting into. My only worry is that I don't know if I fully trust that Walmart will ship the correct ones with the star. The picture on their site is for a different size, so going by the picture alone doesn't guarantee I'll get the right one. But I can just return them if I show up and they don't have the star on them. It will just be a hassle if I've wasted several days, but hopefully it will be fine.

Wait no! Those are runflats, note the RSC right next to the star. They definitely will work, but they are the runflat version.

My dealer put the runflat versions on my SE when I replaced them last spring and the noise was noticeable and I did see a slight drop in range. So I had the non-runflats put on. Nothing wrong with the runflats except for compatibility with the super-quiet SE.

That's exactly why I don't fully trust that Walmart will send the right ones. They have this other listing that seems to be the runflat version (ROF), so it makes me think that the other ones (the ones I originally linked and the ones I ordered) are the non-runflats. I don't think Walmart is good about having exact pictures that match the product when it comes to their tires, since the picture on the one I linked is not the correct size tire. I'll just have to make sure I check that the tires have the star and that they don't have the RSC symbol before they're installed. If they're not the correct ones, it'll be a huge pain because it'll mean I'll have wasted several days not being able to drive my MINI, and then I'll probably have to order the Firehawk Indys from Costco. The tire's not flat, but it's a pretty big bulge on the sidewall, so I don't want to push my luck.

Has anyone ordered the Goodyears from Walmart successfully?

I prefer to drive my SE with the sunroof open and the windows down; lots of wind noise from the bike rack. I like the feel of the wind rustling through my hair. It baffles me why 99% of the cars around me have their windows up and the AC on, given that it is a balmy 85F right now in North Texas. (I dread the 110F+ temperatures that we'll have this summer.)
