Considering how tight the arm was to get back over the aluminum brace, and how well the "nub" went into the hole, I'm really confused how it would have unattached in the first place. Makes me wonder how rough it was handled in transport!
 
Jeebus I just did yoga inside the smart getting some parts of it back to stock before I sell it. NOT looking forward to doing more yoga on a new car. :cool:
 
I picked up my SE yesterday and it had this same problem. I even asked my salesman to have them look for this when they did the PDI. When I pointed it out on the car, he was very surprised. I don’t think he or the people doing the PDI really knew what to look for since they said they have never seen this as an issue. The good thing is it took them less than 20 minutes to fix it. And now they know what to look for on future SEs.

So you went to the front and just pushed it a bit to show them the issue before finalizing the paperwork? Just asking because I'm not sure how to approach this.

I e-mailed them a link to @GvilleGuy’s YouTube video and described what to look for I the video. They said the video link didn’t work, but I think that’s because they tried playing it from the picture in the e-mail instead of actually clicking the link.

I actually had signed all the paperwork already, and then did the check and found it. They took care of it right away which was great.
 
Keep up the good work spreading the word to the new owners to check this before driving off the lot! This issue has obviously not been addressed at a corporate level yet.

Thanks to you for making the video. It almost worked in my case. I’m just glad I remembered to check before I left the dealership. I’m also glad it was fairly simple for them to correct. This issue should be a sticky in the forum so everyone always sees it and checks for it.
 
And, still not addressed. My car was one of the Quality Check cars, built May 17 and I just took delivery Sep 9, and the AGS is loose on the driver's (left) side.

I'll get it fixed while they troubleshoot one of the ambient light LED strips not working correctly.

Yeah, doubtful based on the failure mode. It looks like the red channel is faulted to always on in the left 1/2 of the strip above the glove box, though it does adjust brightness properly.
 
The active grill is just not a mini issue but rather a BMW wide issue the last few years. I do lots of replacement on X5 and 5er. They did extend the warranty but not in Canada

So it isn't secured well in the X5 or does it not open/close?
 
Similar attachment design between Mini/BMW?

We assembly the cooling modules for Ford at work and the AGS modules are directly attached to the radiators, not the body like the Mini. Not as much aero benefit as on the Mini, but we're talking about small and large SUVs for Ford, so they're more for helping the engine get up to operating temp quickly I think.
 
I popped mine back on easily. 2x 8mm screws out, long flathead screwdriver at an angle, push the tab up and forward so the pin drops in, then pull forward through the bumper cover with fingers to make sure it's seated.

Mini Oxford - get your production process fixed, or make sure the parts are molded correctly so they fit properly, or fix your vision system checks. (we do all these things at work)
 
Finally in for my mud flaps installation as well as sorting the loose AGS on the offside (driver’s side). It’s taking much longer than I expected; I hope they’re not attempting to update the VO with the latest firmware, as I didn’t reinstall the OE light switch module and they won’t be able to code the car with the wrong switch in place.

Edit: scratch that, SA just came over to advise that the clip on the AGS is actually broken, and they are checking local inventory and awaiting authorization from BMW Canada to go ahead with replacing the whole AGS assembly. I’ll likely need to schedule yet another appointment. :rolleyes:
 
How many weeks/kms/mi did you drive with it out for it to break? I fixed mine 5 days after getting it, but need to check again to make sure it's still in.
 
I took delivery on August 5, and it has about 1800 km on the clock. The clip that’s broken is on the loose side where it was never attached, so I’m thinking it broke when it came loose, not with driving.
