An AC EVSE I can hack in my sleep, the signalling is not complex. It is also done in a failsafe manner. There are many ways to stop a car pulling charge from an EVSE. Some, I definitely wouldn't recommend, which I'm not going to mention, because somebody.will...

If the CP wire is broken, the car will not charge. It has no possible hazards. Put a signal relay in the EVSE to break the CP wire. Run your external signal to the relay. Simple, cheap and safe.

I'm sure that you have talents that utterly elude me.

Re the lugs. I just had look in McMaster, no 88s. Could.you make one from a butt splice?

Oh OK then. I guess that I shouldn't explain the fairly simple hacking to get $125 eBay F54 aero roofbars to fit an F56. Y'all should mostly definitely spend $500 on the proper Thule ones instead. As you can see, it's a real crab job.IMG_20221102_194343363.webp

It sure would be nice if EVSE suppliers included the odd crimps needed to install. I just got some 2awg crimp lugs in. $3.56 each. They aren't expensive. Just hard to find in some sizes.

Thanks. I ordered the smallest bag of Sherco 8-8 lugs I could find on eBay, and I’m not averse to filing the edges down to make them narrower. Eleven bucks for a bag of 10. My local supplier has 8-8 ABB Sta-Kons at $2 each, but I’m pretty sure they won’t break a box of 200 for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Won’t hurt to ask, though.

I have some Thule black AeroBlade Edges from my old BMW F32. Too bad I don't have roof rails on my MINI. :(

Unless they tell us, there's no way to know if anyone on this forum is a Professor. I'm happy there are really smart people on this forum even if I can't understand everything they write. For example, I enjoy reading discussions about battery technology even though I got a D in high-school chemistry because I failed to memorize the periodic table. I know there are other forum members who understand this stuff even if I don't.

A while ago I tore out the drywall above the board and added 2x2s to the studs, and replaced the crappy batts with fresh 5½” Rockwool, VBL, then new drywall and the (dreaded) mud. Today I finally finished painting, installed the receptacles, and reinstalled the EVSE. Looks cleaner, and the added 15 and 20 Amp receptacles on that wall (most not pictured) are a bonus.

Btw, would love to hear explanation on the F54 roofbar hack. I could use some of this cheaper crab on my car. ;)
