What did you do to your MINI today?

Perhaps I am less picky, but I just keep a microfibre in the useless armrest charger, and whenever I think about it, I give the piano black on the door panels, wheel, displays, and dash a quick wipe. The panel above my car’s glovebox is MINI Electric, so I’m quite sure I would be more obsessed with fingerprints and dust if it were piano black as well.

My supplier sends unbranded versions, but this is the 3M 2080 brushed black metallic (BR212).

I do like it overall, just was being a little nit-picky for my own personal use. Just be gentle with handling during install, it does seem to crease easily and would be noticed after installation if it's going against the grain.
 
I’ve got a few other things going on so didn’t do much today, but I did finally look into how I might change the rear fog lamp bulbs (to LED). I can reach into the gaps between the underbody shield and the bumper skirt to reach the bayonet sockets, but it’s not great. I have to figure out if I can reach the housing clips so I can just pop them out, which will make it much easier to apply the smoke tint film while on my bench, but I will likely wait till the car is up on stands this week when I get to painting the calipers.

Also checked the side markers on the arches; they are indeed LED on the '23, but will likely require me to apply the film in situ.

Haven't done my rear fogs yet either. But I did tint the side markers early on while on the car. Pretty easy, there's a nice little gap between the marker and the plastic fender to fit a sharp blade into.
 
I found the PN on ECS for no sunroof. Looks like a 3 week order time. Are they easy to install?
I'm in the States, so I bought a right-hand drive one. They're directional, so if you bought the left one and installed it on the right, it wouldn't be symmetrical. Mine came from the Middle East somewhere so it took a few weeks to get here.

As for the install, I had to look up on youtube how to take off the handle so I didn't break any tabs, but after that, it only took a few minutes.

I've already used it about 10x more than I ever used the grab handle. $100 well spent.
 
Yesterday, I inflicted severe abuse on my SE.

Autocross.

Wow, that was fun.
Times were truly dreadful to start with. Tyres didn't want to stick. Nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that it was my first ever autocross and I royally sucked.
By my last fun run of the day, my tyres had warmed up and scrubbed in and I almost got a decent time. A few seconds off stock Miatas. Maybe I was also getting the hang of it...
One of the club members that I let try it out wants to go shopping. She beat her best R53 timed run of the day on her first time in an SE.

Only mod was 42psi all round in the stock Hankooks.
 
Not specifically the car, but for it: I got around to finishing the part of the wall where the EVSE is mounted. I am a pretty terrible carpenter, and tend to be lousy at mudding, but this is in my cluttered garage so I’m able to just keep practicing. :cool: A '60s house with shoddy 2x4 construction and poorly-installed, paper-faced fibreglass insulation above the visible board, one inch of expanded styrofoam on the foundation wall below. A while ago I tore out the drywall above the board and added 2x2s to the studs, and replaced the crappy batts with fresh 5½” Rockwool, VBL, then new drywall and the (dreaded) mud. Today I finally finished painting, installed the receptacles, and reinstalled the EVSE. Looks cleaner, and the added 15 and 20 Amp receptacles on that wall (most not pictured) are a bonus.

Just wish I would have did it earlier so I could paint the post. But that will have to wait till next summer. I'm in Michigan so we'll see how will it holds up. Don't know if I really want to open this one up yet.
