I have had my two hour test drive of the EX60 (18 Sep 2026).
Prior to the drive, the salesperson did their overview of the vehicle and the details.
Edit: a magnet does not stick to the hood or the front fenders; the side doors and rear hatch are steel.
Edit: there is currently no built in HimeLink capability.
Many of the chassis aerodynamic panels are “textile” and not plastic; the shark-fin exterior door handles are heated; those exterior door handles are NOT an ergonomic issue.
Setting up my seat, mirrors, steering wheel and HVAC was a drama free exercise as it copies the experience in my TM3.
The first portion of the test drive was from the Ottawa dealership, using non freeway roads to my parking spot inside my parking garage in Kanata.
The outside rear view mirrors do not tilt down when in reverse.
When the vehicle is in a confined environment, it automatically enables the three camera views and includes the distances to objects in centimetres.
This portion included plugging into my current
EVSE and charging the car for about three minutes.
While in the darker environment of the parking garage, we played around with the interior lighting themes and the result was underwhelming.
The seat and steering column do not revert to an egress/ingress setting when disembarking from the car, but the small steering wheel made this a non issue.
The second portion of the test drive was urban and freeway driving from Kanata to Carlton Place back to Ottawa (the dealership).
I asked the car, after setting the voice to British English (unfortunately, only male British English is currently available as I was asking for a female British English voice), “Navigate to xx yyy in Guelph Ontario, using only Tesla superchargers and avoiding the 401 as much as possible”.
Within ten seconds, I got the route I normally use between Kanata and Guelph and it even chose the same Tesla supercharger that I always use with this routine trip.
The small steering wheel was comfortable, I liked it a lot.
The lane assistance had a small learning curve but I mastered it in a few minutes; I was able to cancel the turn signals with the same technique I use in my TM3, a simple (partial) tap up/down in the same applicable direction cancels the turn signals.
The electro shading of the glass roof, when compared to my TM3, definitely cuts the heat from the sun.
The car is very quiet at highway speeds (110 kph (112 indicated)) whilst driving into a strong headwind; the car is very supple over the potholes of Ottawa.
I saw four individual tire pressure readings, one for each tire, active from the TPMS.
The only ‘issue’ is the whole trip odometer thing; it’s not intuitive as to where to find it or even how to reset it (such as setting it at the start of the month to run for the month for purposes of personal datasets)…the next test drive will involve sorting this little issue out.
I will order one of these when the P12 becomes available AND when the bronze exterior color option becomes available; I was told the bronze color will become available once the Cross Country option becomes available.
I know I will have to, at least, PPF the swath of “piano black” that is just below the front bumper area.
I will be ordering the dawn interior (lightest possible interior) options.
Edit: the seat took perhaps one minute to find the sweet spot; my sciatica was NOT an issue with this seat.
__________
Post script: when it comes time to ‘make the deal’, my only caveat will be 20” wheels on the P12 ultra, regardless of what hand waving may occur. The stupid 22” wheels remove a potential 50 km of range on the highway.
