The reveal today, and both the Traveller (SUV) and the Terra (pickup) look impressive.
(Not sure why, but the actual show starts @ 55:41)

"This is a company as rugged as our vehicles. One that’s built to last, from the dirt up, by passionate people. American-born and American-built, Scout vehicles will be engineered in Detroit, built in South Carolina, and backed by the manufacturing and production expertise of Volkswagen Group - meaning, there’s plenty of road ahead. This is the next great American motor company, forged from the past, heading towards a bright future."

Reservations are open for $100 for 2027 production.

What I think is awesome is the EV + Gas model, where it's not a gas engine, but rather a generator of sorts (like a Diesel electric train)

"Refuel anywhere" refers to the vehicle's ability to be charged at electric charging stations or powered by a gasoline generator. Charging times and availability may vary by location. Always consult the owner's manual for specific operating instructions and limitations.
Adds 150 miles of range (350->500)
Likely limitation is the gas tank capacity.

So the EV + Gas Scout is like the Ram Ramcharger (now renamed Ram 1500 REV)? Which serial hybrid will make it to market first?

How will VW support the Scout if they're not going to let VW dealers sell them?

Sounds like the supply chain and/or assembly line knowledge was shared. Perhaps there's some parts bin sharing with the chassis somehow, i don't know.

the reveal was definitely worth the wait! The Traveller and Terra look fantastic. I love that they're sticking to their heritage with a modern, rugged EV twist.

The "EV + Gas" range-extender concept is a really interesting move. Calling it "Refuel anywhere" is smart marketing for easing range anxiety, especially for folks who take their trucks deep off-grid. That jump from 350 to 500 miles of total range is a huge selling point. It'll be fascinating to see how the efficiency and real-world performance shake out with the generator running.

For anyone diving deep into the specs and heritage, I found a really thorough guide on the Scout EV truck that breaks down everything we know so far. It complements the official info nicely.

A quick question: Given the choice between a pure BEV version and this range-extended model, which one would you be more likely to reserve, and why?
