Still lucky enough to not damage the alloy wheel :-D$200 something for the tire, plus at least $100 for mounting and balancing...
On the positive side, with the Clarity, you never have to worry about the goo from the pump ruining an expensive (and yet often unreliable) tire-pressure sensor inside the tire.TPMS on the Honda uses the ABS wheel speed sensor to calculate when a tire is low.
That price for the tire and installation is very high, but in an emergency you are kind of stuck.
If I had a spare I could have shopped around for a new tire. Maybe I'll get AAA again so I can have it towed wherever I want to and not the Honda dealer.
Thinking seriously now to get one, even if I keep it at home... Next set of tires it's either Costco or Sams
Your insurance don't cover emergency towing? If I had a spare I could have shopped around for a new tire. Maybe I'll get AAA again so I can have it towed wherever I want to and not the Honda dealer.

By the time you found a towing company with an available flatbed truck (required for the Clarity), and waited for that truck to get to you, a spare tire would have enabled you to already drive yourself to the tire store (with no worries about careless towing company damage to your aluminum-clad Clarity). And if the tire store to which your Clarity was towed didn't have the exact tire you need...Your insurance don't cover emergency towing?
The Honda emergency assistance will happily tow you if you have a flat- but only to the nearest Honda service location. When I got my flat, I originally called Honda assistance, and they told me that. I ended up cancelling and calling AAA because Honda was 20 miles away and the tire place was 2 miles. (Plus I got my flat outside my kids swimming lesson and staying local allowed me to get it taken care of while they had their lesson vs having to get a ride for me and the kids to Honda since two kids + me can't ride along in the tow truck.)Sorry I am confused. Why do you need AAA membership, I thought this car has a 3 year emergency assistance (including tow) service?
Correct. No spare. If it's a serious flat you need a tow (by a truck with a platform).I fully read the owners manual over the past couple days and it had little to no info on spare tire. I never even thought to inquire on this....
So the car doesn't have a spare at all? Is that just a little electric compressor and they expect your flat to be just a small leak and keep it inflated till you can get a plug installed? That would be pretty important info for me, certainly even more so if my wife is out driving.
The insurance question was more for getting the AAA membership for towing....By the time you found a towing company with an available flatbed truck (required for the Clarity), and waited for that truck to get to you, a spare tire would have enabled you to already drive yourself to the tire store (with no worries about careless towing company damage to your aluminum-clad Clarity).
