The creases on a hood should strengthen a front impact during collision in such small car in my understanding
I got rear-ended at 55 mph in my R55 Clubman, pushed into a barrier wall and bounced off into the rear of another car. Walked away with no injury, and the R55 Clubman cabin was completely intact. The J01 is a completely different design, but testing is stricter now as well. I'm skeptical that the hood is going to be that much of a factor.

Today temporary I eliminated scoop on SE just to see how my butchering job looks and how long going to stay and if my range improves without useless hole in a hood
Your fix is much more elegant than what I did soon after bringing my SE home. The next day it went to the body shop to get its scoopless hood.

But replaced your hood was expensive and I’m sure looks spotless but i did cheep way I hope will hold for a while after that my plan is to mould styrofoam insert and do right way still on very cheap side bc I’m good with all mechanical manufacturing something I go that way if this fails. All my “improvements “ on SE is reversible in 1-2 hr to make car O M looks but I like to play with it to be different on a road .

Is that just carbon vinyl sticker?

Well Discover EV sampled 100 people in Bourton-on-the-Water, UK ..looks like 20 out of 100 people actually liked Spike for the J01. Their little indie review of the 4-door Fiat 600e & Abarth 500e was enjoyable as well.

On the plus side, we only have to wait till 2028 to get a proper replacement ;) I was thinking the other day, if disaster struck and I had to replace my beloved SE what would I buy. For this game, it has to be a new car (ie. no second hand SE). There really are only 2 choices in my book. The arbath 500e, and the cupra born VZ. I just couldn't bring myself to buy a J01 - too many little niggles. I don't think I could stand the downgrade in performance. I'm sure it is more fun to spin the wheels, and slide the back out, but it is slower.

Got to make sure nothing happens till 2028......

I believe in China, there are body kit ready for J01. Looking good.

Took the ICE version for a test drive when i was at my dealer last month and wasn’t impressed. The interior was full of cheap plastic and i didn’t like the fabric on the dash. The biggest problem though was the way it drove.I really pushed it around some tight corners which resulted in a massive amount of torque steer. Not sure what the engineers were thinking when they designed the suspension setup for this car because in my 2024 SE i haven’t noticed any torque steer. The rear design is just a train wreck. My CA said they aren’t selling. This might be the first time that BMW has to do a quick LCI to fix the rear end design of this car.Its also very strange that BMW wants to hide the exhaust pipes under the rear bumper in this car and some other new BMW models like the 5 series.

I've noticed this seems to be a trend with all car makers, it's like they're trying to mask ICE cars because everyone knows EVs are the future.
You will see on pic.my 2011 Kia Soul hide exhaust pipes already but I did different approach installing SS noisy muffler design buy NASCAR modifier he sold only about 50 of them to first buyers and I add 4x3 “ double SS exhaust tips one was fake to make my Humster mobile look racing car and was 5 speed manual as I have difficulty to get it .Was imported from somwhere in PA driven to NY. As everyone told me don’t buy Kia I prove everyone wrong putting 75 K. Miles in 5 years only changing signal bulb a car was Perfect and with Blizzaks I pass all SUV wearing all season tires .Car was abuse hard like carrying 800 lbs bags of cement or ceramic tiles and on a roof 10 pcs. Of drywall on a rack I build bc this car at that time was without for US market.Once I try to sell and was perfect inside and out I was getting $2K from local dealers bc of 5 speed but for trade for BMW I 3 I get $4K. In 2011 I paid $17K. Cash for that amazing car .A hatch tape I have bc time we are living at time and is political add iIMG_1531.webp IMG_1532.webp

So this is the first review to give an accurate (racelogic) 0-100kph time. https://www.wapcar.my/news/review-e...-se-gave-me-a-rollercoaster-of-emotions-81047

Interestingly, it is basically the same as our SEs. Born Nyland recorded 6.66 seconds in the original, which is technically faster, but within the realms of the real world basically the same. Bottom line, the J01 is *not* faster. We already know it doesn't handle as well (from many reviews), so really it just goes further.

This obviously shows the benefits from a ground up EV. OK, I really should tame my sarcastic side. My guess is that they kept squeezing performance out of the motor till they got the overweight j01 to accelerate similarly to the original. This leaves room for the JCW to be faster.

I came to a realisation the other day. The bonnet is my biggest dislike. A well known member here will never agree, but I think the j01 really needed the bonnet scoop ;). It is quite ugly as it stands now.

It seems like this is becoming a trend among all car manufacturers, as if they're trying to disguise internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles because it's widely recognized that electric vehicles (EVs) are the future.
