Kind of an artificial construct, this Level 1/Level 2 business. In the UK and Europe, house voltage is 240V. So do they all have Level 2 by default?

No. I don’t care to create a new name for anything that has already been named. I asked Mowcowbell if their modified device would be considered a Level 1.5 charger. This prompted you to suggest your artificial construct theory.

Perhaps I misunderstood your theory. The way I see it, there are significant differences between L1 and L2 charging.

As far as I know, Level 1 and Level 2 are terms unique to North America since most of the rest of the first world uses the one higher voltage residentially.

Not sure how'd I rate the OEM evse running on 240v. Just a minimum spec Level 2?

Checked the voltage coming out of my NEMA 14-50 and it is hovering around 247v.

I happen to live in North America and suspect that most members on this forum do as well. With no plans to operate my PHEV outside of North America I have little concern over the terms used for PHEV charging in those countries.

Do you use recommended tire pressure or higher? Why?

I ran the OEM tires at 36 psi (recommended pressure), but they went bad at 30,000 miles with wear on the center of the tire: This indicates excessive pressure.

My second set of tires is OEM takeoffs from ebay. I have been running these at 32 psi (4 psi below recommended), but I am seeing center wear at 25,000 miles on these tires. The tires are not worn out but center tread is less than edges. I have dropped the pressure to 30 psi.

I rotate the tires when the maintenance minder tells me (about 7500 miles). I did not check the tread wear on the first set of tires, until I noticed they were bad.

I currently have 55,000 miles on the 2018 Clarity. I normally drive the car lightly loaded - just me and one suitcase. I occasionally have up to 800 pounds of equipment in the car or back rack, but not frequently.

Another thread suggested adjusting air pressure for the load in the car: Something like 36 psi is 4000# car with 800 pound load. 4000# car with 200 pound load would be 36 x (4000+200) / (4000 + 800) = 31.5... This brought me to 32 psi pressure, but it still seems too high.

In 2020 they still make car with no phone holders - and I need one, so out of leftovers RAM mounts I had in my garage for my bike and a thing I 3D-printed I made a holder that inserts into a cup holder (and I still have a cup holder functionality) and holds my phone (and charges it by qi charger glued to the holder).
