It was the 11529 hitch. I did it myself. The hitch was easy and quick - the bulk of the time was spent removing the plastic shrouding and then reinstalling it.
If I were to do it again however I would pay to have a custom 2” hitch made and installed. A 200 pound tongue weight and 2,000 pound towing is just too limiting.

Gotcha, thanks James. We just picked up our Kona on the weekend and are deciding our best course of action. We would not use it for anything other than our bike rack, so we wouldn't go with anything heavy duty...I'm just trying to decide whether or not to do it myself.
I had the Draw Tite installed yesterday and am very pleased (I am the OP on this thread, wanting a hitch for my bike rack). I took Dag's photos in but they said it was a standard install, nothing unusual. Installation cost $150 US. I guess the only reason there is no approved hitch for this car is because Hyundai doesn't want people towing with it? Anyway, glad to finally have this taken care of.
BTW it being spring and having beautiful weather here in Oregon this week, I removed the snow tires and installed the bike rack . . . and woke up to heavy snowfall this morning!

I went to a uhaul to have the same hitch installed. They looked under the car and said they would need to take the whole plastic part out completely that is there keep the wind from getting caught in the bumper... so two questions:
1. Did your uhaul take this plastic shield out completely or did they cut it (and if so where did they make the cuts?)
2. Have you noticed any change in range due to having the hitch (without bikes on it)?

Dag has a series of good photos of the cuts that need to be made (post #21 of this thread) which are easy because they follow the ribs. The installer made the cuts and reinstalled the plastic.
It’s hard to believe there’s much impact on range. There’s virtually no change to aerodynamics and there isn’t too much added weight either. I imagine my snow tires affected range more.

Existe-t-il plusieurs options pour les pièces jointes pour différentes options de connexion.
Ou tout simplement la seule option.
Je ne veux pas retirer le pare-chocs, etc. tant que je ne suis pas sûr d'avoir la bonne pièce à installer.

Just installed the Curt 11529 and wanted to let other Canucks know that you can order direct from U-Hauls website in Canadian dollars , it was 136.95 as previous owners have found but if you're doing a DIY install that is all taxes and shipping included, direct to your door by Fedex and it is delivered in a larger Curt box. I couldnt find it cheaper anywhere else even using discounts I get for work. If you want to keep the plastic covers intact you have to make a few mods. I chose to cut a small corner off the hitch with my sawzall so that the black plastic cover fits perfectly. I'm not planning on pulling a trailer, just a bike rack, so not an engineering issue. I also managed to fit the center support for the underbody panel back in place by cutting a piece off and re-installing it in the middle of the hitch hanger

I just had a Draw-Tite 24976 Class I hitch put on my 2019 Kona by a trailer guy (Exhaust Masters, ironically) here in Port Alberni, Canada. Looks great. He said there was nothing too special about it, just needed a little extra time to make it right. He got a Modulite HD Plus wiring harness to wire it with but wasn’t familiar with the Hyundai/Kia wiring so I’m gonna take it to someone I know has done that before. No big deal. Looking forward to getting a small utility trailer to carry around yard stuff and go camping and canoeing with!
Used to live several blocks form the hospital, beautiful area with loads of local locations for camping etc.
Let us know how the wiring harness works out. Congratulations and enjoy (pictures would also be nice including the hitch/wiring set-up)

Thanks for the wiring details on where to pick up power and signals in the rear of the car. Even if I don't power a trailer I'll still be using that.

No problem.
Unfortunately it looks like a problem has cropped up for me. A couple days after I installed the wiring harness, the brake lights on the trailer started to be on continuously.
Upon checking, I found that power was being delivered continuously (14V) to the right/left turn signal plugs on the vehicle whether the vehicle was on or off. It was obviously working normally when we first installed it and when we initially hooked up the brand new utility trailer (Stirling from Canadian Tire). On the trailer, the brake lights stay on continuously and the right turn doesn't blink but I don't suspect it is the trailer. I have checked the Ground is OK on the KONA and there does not seem to be a visual short anywhere.
Need to confirm with multimeter. Has anyone else who has done the wiring have any issues? I also noticed while searching there have been recalls related to factory installed wiring harnesses and trailer wiring in the past.

2009-2011 Hyundai Veracrus and Kia Sorento - Wire Harness and Converter water issue recall
2016 Hyundai Tucson - trailer turn signal wiring recall
The Tucson recall is similar though not the same to what I am experiencing: "In the affected vehicles, when the vehicle's engine is running and the brake lights are illuminated, if the turn signal is activated, the trailer turn signal lights will either turn off or remain continuously illuminated (not flash)"
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Do the turn signals on the car work normally when the installed additional power converter is disconnected? If so , than the problem is more than likely the converter or its power supply/ground.No problem.

Haven't tried disconnecting the power converter completely yet (Aside from pulling the fuse when working on it of course) but the lights on the car are working normally throughout. I did register the power converter with draw-tite and submitted a question with them on the issue. We'll see what they have to say. It's not a cheap component, so hoping they can provide some good support and replacement if the power converter is the issue.

Good to hear good thing nothing was damaged integral with the car, hopefully its an easy fix. Look forward to the update .
Any word yet on troubleshooting or have you replaced converter and all is well?
