Hondalink Now Officially Useless--Perhaps Discontinued

This app still goes through the HondaLink server. The big question is whether or not Honda will still have the "lost" data vailable from the server even though the most recent official HondaLink app, with its recent "modernization", does not currently show data such as the SOC percentage and the odometer reading.

I have been using this app for a few days, free trial, and it works well. My fuel level in the app does not change though but everything else works.

I had not paid close attention to the difference between the first notification and the second notification. The first said we would lose Fuel Level, the second said we would lose Battery and Fuel Level.

I've not updated the app, so I am still getting SOC updates. Android app version 5.0.51. There is an update waiting in the app store and it is usually forced after a few weeks.

I have a spreadsheet where I had tracked 99.5% of my charging sessions: start, end times and percentages so after the update maybe only start and end times.
Do you track Kwh charged too?

On Tuesday, by email, Thierry Bucco, the Re(link) author, told me that there would be "No Android version coming from me." I hope he changed his mind since then. There is a similar Android app, logue-app, in beta but that app only works for the newer Honda Prologue. It does not work for my Clarity PHEV. I emailed the author but as yet have received no response about the app working for the Clarity.

Currently, one can use an older version of the Android HondaLink app to retain the old functionality. One just needs to make sure that HondaLink does not get updated to the new version (or that Honda does not stop providing the data on the HondaLink server).

I guess Honda was tired of people who enjoyed the free Hondalink service complaining when it had problems.

I just received the following email message from Honda. It doesn't mention what Hondalink is still good for. Will it still start the Climate Control?

LOL: "Vehicle Mileage and Fuel Level may be accessible via your vehicle’s instrument panel."

We're reaching out to inform you of upcoming changes to HondaLink services for your Honda vehicle. Starting March‌ 5‌, ‌2026, certain HondaLink features will no longer be available for the 2018-2021 Clarity Plug-In Hybrid.

What's Changing?
The following HondaLink features will no longer be accessible through the HondaLink app:
  • Vehicle Notifications – Warning Lamps and Maintenance Minders
  • Vehicle Mileage
  • Fuel Level
  • Send Destination

What You Need to Know:
  • These features were provided at no cost and do not require a paid subscription.
  • Other services such as SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, myQ Connected Garage, and emergency features (where equipped) will continue to function.
  • Vehicle Mileage and Fuel Level may be accessible via your vehicle’s instrument panel (please refer to your owner's manual).
Have Questions?
We've prepared a detailed FAQ to help you understand what's changing and what remains available. You can view it here.

If you need additional support, reach out through our Contact Us page or use the Contact Us feature in the HondaLink mobile app.

Thank you for being a valued Honda customer.
I asked Honda to close my account and delete any information they have about me and my car on Honda link. 2 weeks and still they have no idea how to do it. I have been talking to the developers. As of yet they can’t disconnect from the car.

I’ve used the app for a few days and like it enough to buy the ‘lifetime’ license. I like that it displays the percentage of charge so I know when I can go out and unplug my car.

How expensive is a lifetime license? Does the (Re)Link developer believe the app can continue to provide charge-level data for your Clarity's lifetime?

Does the (Re)Link app provide access to the Clarity's odometer read-out? HondaLink rarely did that for me.

Thanks.

License is 99 cents per month or $9.99 lifetime. The app is dependent upon data from Honda. Doesn’t show odometer data. Here’s some screenshots from this morning. It also has a homescreen widget that shows charging status. It notifies you when charge is completed: that hasn’t worked for me in the Honda app for a long time.

I've been using this app for a week now, and it's working great expect the odometer and fuel percentage hasn't been update since then. The fuel range matches with HondaLink. Very deceiving to see the incorrect fuel tank percentage on the app. Incorrect odometer is not a big deal.

I am still using the older version (pre-"modernization") of HondaLink. The SOC percentage and odometer data are still updated and are accurate for me. My hope is that Honda does not quit making the SOC percentage data available. I would use the Re(Link) app but I understand that it is not currently available for Android.

So the odometer and the fuel level is still being updated on your "old" HondaLink? Sigh.. iOS version was forced to update.

After Honda said they would kill many of the features, I deleted and re-installed the iOS version. I'm running the HondaLink app, Version "Mar 2026" 5.1.2. Anyway, the only thing I notice missing is my odometer reading.
Across the top, when open it says Total Range, Range, Range. The first "Range" is EV range. The second "Range" is HV. The plugged in icon with the lightening bolt is still there and does accurately inform if plugged in or not. Also still present in this app:
Schedule Charge, Turn on Climate, Schedule Climate, and Find My Car.

Gone are the bars with fuel level, but the numeric data displayed is the same thing. I mean HV range is the mileage estimate for the gas part, and EV range is the mileage estimate for the EV part. It just isn't displayed with little green dots. i.e. mine currently says 159mi total range, 35 miles EV range, and 124 miles HV range. So the same data is there.

Anyway, the version I have is still reporting almost everything as before with slight difference in layout.

The version 5.1.2 does not report the battery SOC percentage. This SOC percentage date was just above and to the right of the former green electrical charge bar in the former version 5.0.54. Many use the SOC percentage to help with their smart Level 2 chargers.

Oh gotcha. True, no SOC. For my uses, knowing how much estimated range is available is "close enough" but do respect the fact that the SOC number has been lost. Since estimated range is the only value I look at, I didn't initially notice.

BTW, in case it helps someone. I originally bought a 40amp EVSE dumb one for say $199. I later found a cheap chinese level 2 32amp for $99. The cheaper one has wifi integration which shows how much power the car takes, and keeps a log. (NexCyber brand). It uses the smart-life app. i.e. I'll see something like date/charging time/ Charge. Presently taking 11.11KWh.

Found this in r/HondaClarity

The developer is very responsive with Q/A.

Give a try for 7-days...

Thanks very much for pointing out this app!

I’m liking it so far … it seems better than HondaLink ever was. For instance, it displays both outside temperature and cabin temperature. The layout is much better and less clunky than HondaLink, and allows customization of layout and color schemes.

One feature hasn’t been mentioned here so far: ReLink allows Apple Shortcuts as well! I use Shortcuts extensively, and so this is a real game changer for me.

The existence of a Widget, as already mentioned, is also fantastic.

There is risk of eventual loss of access since this is a third party app. We remain at the whim of whatever data Honda may decide to take away in the future. But, after 7 days trial I’m very likely to buy the $10 lifetime.
