Ok then I think I will go with it sooner than later. I need 8/100 because I mostly drive 10k a year so with some margin of long drives 8 years 100k would work. I have the quote good until March 31st for $1314 at 0 deductible. Thats 5 years extended after original 3 years for $22 a month. I never buy warranties with Honda/Toyota/Lexus but this car Clarity has so much electronic and features in it an being a new model I have decided to buy. A single failure of anything could mean more than warranty price.

Exactly my line of thinking too. I think this was the very first auto extended warranty I have ever purchased in 40+ years of car ownership. Only time will tell if it was economically a good purchased, but I know already it was a good purchase from the "peace of mind" point of view. Besides, the Honda care product is refundable along the way if you change your mind. And, it is assignable to a new, private owner of the car, which should help support resale prices and market over time.
Note that the Honda Care product also has some perks above and beyond the usual warranty extension. For example, it covers the cost of roadside assistance for 8 years and let's you add up to 5 other Honda or Acura vehicles that you or your family may own to that feature (at no additional cost). You might want to read @KentuckyKen's post about a year ago with some of that info at https://www.insideevsforum.com/comm...ds/hondacare-extended-warranty.451/#post-9561. Some people have written that they dropped AAA membership as a result, which saved them about half of the cost of the Honda Care purchase.

In my family, we just bought 4 Honda Clarity (Yes 4) in the past week and one more in the process. I was the first to get it and was hooked on a 7 yr 80k mile honda care @ 1501. The other 3 got 8 yr 100k for $1564 and we're all in California. I'm still within my 60 days to cancel, was wondering if it's too late to renegotiate this get on the $1300 deal? If anything, I'd like to get mine to 8/100 at least. Do we have to work this with our local dealer does someone here have a referal they can provide?

Spoke to Sean earlier, he can't sell to California but Tuani from College Hills can, spoke to her and got $1364 for D80. I'm ok with that as well. My battle now is to have someone at my dealer to call me back so I can cancel. Obviously they are not motivated to make this phone call.

Take the contract out and read the cancellation provisions, then just follow the notification procedure to a "t". There is usually some window after purchase to cancel, and it sounds like your dealership is doing its best to ignore you until it is too late, so just take it into your own hands. And even if there is no deadline to cancel, your refund will be pro-rata, meaning you pay for "coverage" you don't need.

"Anytime"? Yes and no....
After 6 months, the available plans shift. They are now "up to 5 years" and start as of the day you bought the warranty (vs. up to 8 years from original in-service date, prices apparently similar). So if you buy just before your 3 year ends, you get ~8 years, but if you buy in year 2 (for example) you will be sacrificing a significant amount if time. I suppose if you can remember/google calendar to buy at 2 years, 11 months, 3 weeks, 6 days you'd get the same warranty and keep your $$$ for an extra 3 years. Up to you whether worth it (I'm still considering).
I suppose that after the Clarity is discontinued, if it's costing them a lot, they could also raise the prices for the Clarity plan.
I do wish they had a 10 year. Sigh, although if you are in a CARB state, you already have a longer extended on the battery (10yr/150k miles).

I don't think that is totally correct. You can buy an extended warranty at 35 month just before your warranty is running out. I got the following quote
G58 5years/80k $1,023.00
That would mean your car would be covered for 8years / 126k in total with $1,023.00
If you buy now I would pay D80 8years/100k @ $1,314.00.
Am I missing something?
Now this is all assuming rates for G58 would be same in the future. Also if Clarity was discontinued then rates may go up significantly for G58. But there is nontrivial decision to be made buy now D80 or renew at 35 months and get G58.
Any opinions?

I don't know whether you are "missing something" or not. But, there are many considerations to take into account as you make a purchase decision.
One is what I stated in an earlier post to this thread (in part):

Whatever these perks are, you wouldn't necessarily have them during your first three years of Clarity ownership without the Honda Care warranty.
Another consideration is that the Honda Care extended warranty is transferable to a new private owner if you ever sell the car, which I speculate will help support the future sales price and marketability of your Clarity at any time (unless you already know you will just trade the car to a dealer). And, since Honda's extended warranty is pro rata refundable anyway, the financial risk you take on by buying now is low.
Another consideration is simply peace of mind, which is a very individual thing. My personal preference has always been to "lock in" prices and other terms when I think they are good or at least reasonable. This applies to the D80 I purchased, for example, and extends even to the 3-year electricity fixed-price contract for our home (and Clarity) that I got from a local utility at $0.078 / kWh (the price is now (a year later) considerably higher).
I don't think you can make the wrong decision, either way. Like purchasing a Clarity in the first place, it is a personal decision for all of us, taking into account our personal situations, our own use cases, our assessment of the long-term reliability of the new technologies embodied in the Clarity, etc. The wisdom of our individual decisions on this subject (always to be evaluated in retrospect) most likely won't be known for some years.

Totally Agree. I ended up buying the D80 now. This was actually due to the fact that I wanted to lock in the price and considering the Clarity has not been high volume car, I don't know if it'll be there 3 years from now. I wanted the "peace of mind" and lock in a rate I though reasonable.

You missed something:
For the 6 month plus plans, the time is from when you buy the plan (so it pays to buy JUST BEFORE you hit 3 years)
The mileage is total odometer mileage, not mileage from when you buy the plan.
The G58, therefore, bought just at 3 years, is as long as the D80, but for 20k fewer miles (80k vs 100k). You'd need to compare the G50 plan pricing to have the same plan.

"Coverage through" shows when your plan will end by time or miles, whichever comes first.
Example: A G52 Plan will expire 5 years from the purchase date of the plan or when your odometer reads 120,000 miles.

I did not do any homework on this but off the bat i knew this is waaaayyyy too much for extended warranty. So said NO. In less than 10 second, he dropped the price to $1590 and i said "if you would have given me this price in first place, i might have actually bought it but with that dirty trick and dropping 1000$, I dont trust you no more" and I denied.
When whole transaction completed, he himself told me that look for some dealerships in east coast and they will sell the warranties for alot cheaper, may be even 1000$. I asked for the name, he wont tell me.
Is there anyone from NY/NJ?PY aware of any such dealerhship?

You can get the genuine Honda Care D80, 8 yr 100,000 mile for Only $1,304 from Hyannis Honda. You can purchase online or use their online quote to get your dealer to match it. It’s good at any Honda dealer and no paperwork needed since it’s in the Honda data base. Fully transferable or prorated if you sell and there are other plans available (120,000 a little more). Also has roadside assistance for the 8 years and will include family members that drive Hondas or Acura’s.
I used their online quote to make my dealer match it so I could fold it into the Honda 0.9% financing last year.

However if you’re in California or Florida they can’t sell it to you and you’ll have to buy it local.
