Of course it does, otherwise the insurance companies would go broke. Insurance is not supposed to be a money-making endeavor. Do you actually want your house to burn down so you can say you 'made' money on having insurance??

thanks to this thread, I just bought the D80 8yrs/100K miles for $1364, $0 deductible with College Hills Honda and I live in CA. Took 15 mins in total, from the time I requested the quote online to making the payment. Very fast, efficient and easy.

Yes, you can get the Honda Care extended warranties, really any time after purchase until the original factory warranty expires (in 3 years). The only difference is the price -- it goes up after the first six months, 6K miles on the Clarity.
I bought the D80 from Hyannis at 5 months, 4K miles, for "peace of mind." I normally avoid purchase of extended warranties, but also bought one when I installed a new very expensive heat pump electric water heater a few years ago that was then very new technology. That extended warranty paid for itself several times. Hopefully, the new technology in the Clarity will be mostly trouble-free, but I will sleep better anyway with the extended warranty coverage.
I just bought my Clarity Touring yesterday here in San Antonio. When the finance guy got to the part about extended warranties, with the price of a D80 for $2600, I told him I had a quote from an online Honda dealer for $1304. Right away he said Saccucci? And proceeded to give me some F.U.D. He says there is a class action lawsuit against Saccucci where so Honda owners were denied warranty coverage by Honda because supposedly underhanded way Saccucci sold the Hondacare extended warranties.

Well, I just purchased a D80 from Saccucci after about 4 months of wobbling on my part. But, once I decided to commit, it took all of 10 minutes to make the purchase and I received the Honda Care contract in PDF format by email about 10 minutes after that. The only thing I can say another dealer found "underhanded" would be better described by "undercutting" his price significantly. I wouldn't let this straightforward competition deter you from dealing with Saccucci. (My local Honda dealer, also here in Texas, doesn't even offer to sell the Honda warranty product -- only a privately underwritten plan on which the dealership makes even more money at a much higher price.)

Why not get the genuine Honda Care through Honda Corporate that’s honored at all Honda dealers and pulls up on their computer without any hassle or keeping track of paperwork on your part. Dealers want $2,500 or more for it but you can get it on line from Hyannis Honda for only $1,304. You can get a quote online and have your dealer match it (or buy from then ), which is what I did. The D80 is 8 yr, 100,000 mile no deductible, transferable if you sell the car, and proratable if you want to discontinue it. They also have a longer milage option that I think would still beat your $1,500 price. It’s just not offered in California. It’s the best savings I found on this forum.
That makes sense but I'm in California and that's why I started looking at other options....
I notice that's described as the "Parts List", so I wonder if the 15/150 warranty is only for the actual emission system parts, not the labor to diagnose and replace them. That would still be a nice savings, of course, but the time to replace the parts could get very expensive.

I guess that leaves the big unknown for CA owners as the numerous sensors and related electronics in the vehicle. It sounds like a simple windshield repair could easily cost more than the extended warranty, so for $1300 on a vehicle that cost me $35000 (less rebates), I'm inclined to go for it. My previous HondaCare on the 2003 Accord easily paid for itself with a transmission replacement, though of course that's just anecdotal.
I bought a 2018 Clarity Touring last night at a great deal 34.5k on road. But then finance manager sold me a 10 year 100k warranty for $1540 thats $27 per month for 60 months got added to the payments. Now reading here it seems I should have gone for Honda Care 8year/100k.
I think I can still cancel the one I bought but will I be able to buy Honda care from him only or any other dealer near my home? Does anyone know?

You can purchase HondaCare from other dealers, including ones in most other states. It's a Honda warranty and isn't locked to one dealer's service department. If you poke around a bit on this thread, people have mentioned dealers who offer good prices.

Some Honda dealers (including my local Honda dealer) don't even offer the Honda extended warranty product, most likely because they can make more money with third party extended warranties at higher prices. I ended up buying the D80 Honda Care extended warranty online (that you are apparently considering) from Hyannis Honda for $1304. Took about 15 minutes and comes up on screen immediately at every Honda dealer's service department nationwide. (You will want to read further on the forum if you live in CA before you commit to anything, however, as CA and certain other states already have the benefit of an extended manufacturer warranty on the battery and some other components.)
Is it available online or is it by calling sales/finance department. I left them messages since Friday and still waiting. I could not find anything on their website. Not that its very urgent as the car is only 4 days old. But just one thing want to get done with. Also is there an option like 10 years 120K warranty (or its just D80) as I tend to keep cars longer than 10 years.

I got my dealer to match the Hyannis D80 for the same $1,304 price, but I had to work at it. The finance guy didn’t even offer the Hondacare and when I asked for it he reluctantly got it out and matched the price to get my sale. When I asked him if he didn’t offer me the Honda Care because the commission was lower even though it was a superior Honda product, he just smiled and stayed silent. This is why I have little respect or loyalty for the car dealers in my area that I have interacted with.

Not sure from your posting what exactly you have done to contact Hyannis. In any case, this particular dealer's web site for Honda Care warranties is at https://hyannishondacare.com/ and the sales guy to interact with there on the subject is Sean Rausch at (774) 470-4054. If you fill in the info form on their web site, you will get a current quote for all available plans by email, almost immediately. There are many Honda Care extended warranty terms available, ranging from 3 years, 35K miles (D34) to 8 years, 120K miles (D82) and with or without a small deductible (the C plans). I haven't seen any better pricing ($1,304 for the popular D80, 8 years 100K miles) from any other source on this forum, but I also haven't read every posting either, so you might want to do some further research on pricing, etc. from different dealers that offer the Honda Care products for the Clarity PHEV.
Yes thanks. I was able to get hold of Sean late yesterday and he told me about this web page. I received the quote and its $1314 for D80. And he told me Honda does not offer 10 years 120k miles. Its upto 8 years with 100k or 120k. I cancelled mine with dealer who sold me car at 10 years 100k for $1540 as it was third party and had $100 deductible at other dealers. It was third party. Now I asked if I need to buy now or if I can buy anytime during first 36 months and 36k miles. Lets see.

On the buy now or buy later issue, when I purchased mine one could wait up to 6 months after your Clarity purchase to buy at the same “new car” price. But after 6 months, the price went up. Price, of course, is important, but not the only variable. For example, Honda could change the coverage term or conditions anytime it wants.
