EV's and plug-in hybrids are being seen as a tax cash-cow by some. The state of North Carolina already charges an annual tax of $214.50 for EV's and $107.25 annually for plug-in Hybrids. According to the article above the House wants to impose another $130 for plug-in hybrids, with proposed federal increases to $150 for EV's and $50 for plug-in hybrids, yet the average gas powered vehicle is only paying $88 per year in gas taxes?
The right thing to do would be to impose the same tax on EV's and plug-in hybrids, as the average ICE vehicle pays in gas taxes.
