Ditto. Had my motor/reduction gear replaced late 2020. Dealer tried rotating the drive shaft and lubrication first only to make it worse before Hyundai authorized the complete Drivetrain replacement.

I know. It's like " be sure to get" milk when you're at the store. If only being "sure" was enough to motivate Hyundai to replace $30K worth of equipment.
 
Well, the good news is I got recall 199 (electronic braking system) done, and the technicians could hear the noise. Service manager said they had no idea what it was, so I passed along what I have learned reading about it, and that most fixes required replacing the drive motor and reduction gear. They had a call in to the regional technical center, but said it often takes a while to hear back from them. So hopefully I'll hear back from them soon. At least this time the dealer's waiting room was open, and I was able to get some work done while waiting. When I was there in December the waiting area was closed due to covid concerns, and I had to putter around in a loaner for 6+ hours.

Update: After taking the car back in again this week for diagnosis, I got word on Tuesday that Hyundai has authorized a replacement motor. Waiting now for the replacement to come in.
 
As for Kia Niro EV, I read in another post (FB) that two people just had their reduction gear replaced and it fixed the problem (eg, motor not replaced)... so not sure why some people get motor replaced vs others getting reduction gear replaced for the same noise problem... I also have this noise (cards in spoke sound) in my Kia Niro EV 2019, heard it starting around 7000 miles and getting slight worse at 15000 miles. I really need to tell my dealer about this at my next service check up.
 
I initially just had the reduction gear replaced, but didn't take long for the sound to come back. They then replaced the motor and has been good ever since.
 
I am slated to have my reduction motor replaced this week along with the addition of the motor mounts. I expect we will be back at it to replace the motor in the new year from the looks of this thread.
 
It's odd and a shame that this thread got buried and forgotten (even by me). It's got a wealth of info and history about drive train replacement.
 
It would be a good idea for common problems to have their own sticky threads for quick access. Perhaps even with a standard form for info such as location, model year, and kms or miles. Even better if those posts could be perpetually edited so that owners could update the same entry without having to repeat the relevant history at every update.

Seemes like this problem is now becoming really well known, and it applies to several different EVs (e.g. Kona/Kaui, Niro, Ioniq, Soul), but there still seems to be no definitive solution from Hyndai/Kia.
