Clarity PHEV Touring $35.6K

Just bought (2/19/18) a Touring for $35,480 plus 495 doc fees and of course state taxes in Lexington KY. Got splash guards, pin stripes, first aide kit thrown in after declining the dealer protection package. Also got the Honda Care D80 (8yr/100,000m/0 deduc) for $1,304 thanks to this forum. And Honda financing 1.9/5yr.

Congrats! I absolutely love my Clarity Touring. Best car I've ever owned....so far. I paid about the same except our sales tax here is 8.75% UGH!

I haven't gone through with purchasing yet. What are your payments?

I don't have a trade-in so this is starting to look like a large down payment scenario for me
 
Jason, you can find loan calculators online and put in amount to borrow, % interest, and # of years and get what your monthly payment would be.

I borrowed $32,475 (trade in of $6,600) at 1.9% for 5 years with nonprepayment penalty. So I financed everything car, tax,warranty and had no upfront money expended.
Monthly payment $568.24
Total interest paid over life of loan is $1,619.40 for total payback of $34,094.40

I bought mine almost right off the delivery truck. Took the teas drive with it still covered in plastic and paint protection goop. They just sell fast here so you have to get them quick. $12,500 in tax credits I also means the dealers really don’t have to deal

As for deal, I was lucky to get free all weather floor mats.

I bought mine for $700 off MSRP for the base trim in Ottawa. Not sure if it is a good deal or not but in Ottawa, almost nothing is discounted for EV or PHEV (since no dealer has any stock and I was told by both Chevy and Hyundai dealers that all their 2018 Volt and Ioniq EV are already sold out) so I think it's pretty good
 
It seems as though the Clarity is rapidly becoming the "Mystery car that everyone wants..." Just saw a huge article online about people slowly discovering the Clarity. They're beginning to sell like hotcakes and some dealers are holding firm or more on the sticker price. Best time to buy is the last day of the month. If dealers haven't met their sales quota, they're willing to negotiate. I bought mine on Jan 1st (cause I wanted the $7500 rebate for 2018) and they knocked off almost $3000 cause they were short on Dec quota. They did some double contract thing for their dealership to make it look like I bought on Dec 31st. It really is the best plug-in vehicle out there right now. I have 2 friends who cancelled their Tesla Model 3 orders after seeing and driving my car.

I cancelled my Model 3 reservation and bought a Clarity. By the time I got a Model 3, the tax rebate would be less and I would be paying at least $10,000 more for the vehicle. I may still get a Tesla, but am most excited about their advancements in self driving and it seems like we are 5 years away until it’s fully implemented and hopefully legal.
 
Same here. Besides all that, 0.9 from Honda finance was way better than the 3.5% or higher that would have been available for the Model 3 purchase.

I’m also disappointed with the lack of progress with FSD and am starting to wonder if they’ll ever make it happen.

However the breaking point was how “sporty” the Model 3 ride came out. I don’t want to feel every bump. The Clarity test drive sealed the deal. I got a great car and a couple more years to see how Tesla does before buying in.
 
got my touring for $36,500 OTD. I didnt get the warranty, thinking of buying that separately from a diff dealer.

This is helpful. I'm willing to put down 6 or 7k. I have excellent credit, so this is probably comparable.
