Clarity PHEV Touring $35.6K

I found a dealer website in West LA that appears to be a fixed price dealer, all vehicles are shown discounted off MSRP. I don't know if dealers can be named in this forum so I'll note they are in 91367. About $1500 off touring and a little less of Base.
 
sontp11, is that $35.6K quoted price before tax, title, and license? If so, that’s only $1K below MSRP, so you should be able to do much better than that with some work. I just purchased a base model Clarity for a little over $2100 off of MSRP today. From what the salesperson told me, there is even more room for negotiation with the Touring model due to the higher cost of the trim, plus dealers seem to have more of the Touring model on their lots than the base.

Ha, that was my deal. I realized after I posted that I actually got $3000 off from MSRP, since the $33,400 MSRP I was subtracting from doesn't include the $890 destination charge.

Is this for the base model or the touring? I can't even get that price out the door for a base model...

This was for the base model. I probably happened to be in the right place at the right time. I've been checking dealer inventories in my region and noticed that there was quite a number of PHEV on most dealer lots. The dealer I went to had more than a dozen, and others had up to 25, so it seems that the initial rush to buy when the car was released has passed and more people are willing to wait for Honda to offer more incentives. So I think my dealer really didn't want me to leave without the car. We were literally walking out the door and heading back to my car when the salesman came out after us and made the final offer that we accepted.

Thanks! Very nice deal. Dealers in my area only have 2 or so Claritys on their lot, which might explain why they're less hesitant to budge on the price?
 
I always buy first thing and at top of the market - maximize my loses...:eek::rolleyes:

Seriously, I will defend those of us that just knew the jugheads in Washington were going to close the door on the $7500 tax credit on 12/31 so jumped at first chance to get one...oh well...:(

It helps to know I really do love this car...:D

The end of the year is the most popular time to buy due to the tax credit. Since the car just came out, deals wouldn't be common. We need the pioneers to show everyone their experience. Unfortunately I'm not due for another car yet, but I really like to read about the positive experiences.
 
I had to drive over 200 miles away to get mine because the dealer down the street couldn't get any in before 2018. They now have a couple and they are discounted on the website a whopping $325, so I didn't miss out on much by buying early. Plus we could really use the tax credit this year anyway.

I have to be honest - the credit is worth more this year as well - and NO ONE in Texas is discounting these things, so no harm no foul.
 
I purchased my Clarity PHEV Touring for $35,400 before taxes. This is in Orange County, California.

It was somewhat difficult to get to this price because no one wanted to quote a price over the phone. In my experience, Costco or AAA usually made the process easier but those programs offered nothing for this car. However, my husband persisted and once he was able to get one local dealer's price via email, he was able to secure the final offer at the dealership near our house. It helps that there's plenty of inventory in this area.
 
When I bought mine (Dec, 17), it was not yet on the USAA car buying service list, but I notice the Clarity PHEV is there now. For active duty and vets, that might be another place to look for a good price. They list $400 as the starting point, some dealers might go as far as $2,000 for a USAA sale. It turned out for me not to be the best way to go for the GM Chevy Volts, but for Honda, maybe.

I purchased mine for $40,000 OTD but that did include an extended bumper to bumper warranty for 100,000 mi or 7 years. I think it was $1800. Purchased from a Honda dealer here in the desert near Palm Springs. Also included lifetime free oil changes as long as I owned the car.
