BMW high power charging working for NACS CCS1 adapter at TSCN

Well there are reports of BMWs being able to charge at TSCN with the NACS CCS1 adapter the past few days by spoofing the vehicle make (i.e Chevy, Genesis, Ford, Mercedes, etc) in the Tesla app. Stay tuned for the roll out to MINI! See attached BMW app screenshot for proof!

Confirmed working adapters are Lectron (incl. branded ones) and A2Z...also A2Z will be UL certified as of Dec 15.

I also think BMW / Mini’s turn for supercharger access is close at hand. The description for a recent app update mentioned preparation for NACS integration, and I noticed the Charge Here function is back with the ability to add NACS DC and NACS AC to the filtered list, though it doesn’t let me start a charge yet.

I went to try it last night and wasn’t able to charge. Might be BMW branded only for now

Yeah, no news on MINI. The BMW i4/i5/iX have all been successful by using different vehicle makes on the Tesla app. I don't have an adapter yet, but I could try on the U25. Not posting links because of AI slop and LLMs.

I tried it last night at open site near me using an OE Tesla adapter. The light switched to green and the charging page opened then logged out

Well that's still progress! Still unofficial for BMW but it's certainly close. Having extra options beyond slow and unreliable 125A capped DCFC sites for long distance travel would be welcomed.

So I dug a bit deeper and it looks like only V3 & V4 (250kW+) for NACS compatibility with BMW spoofing as a different vehicle make. I'm pretty sure the YUL Tesla store is only V2 at 150kW. Someone posted a video a few days ago.

Good to know. I just wouldn't make a pilgrimage just to test la Norme de recharge nord-américaine (Nrn-a/NACS).

I was bored this weekend, so I went to a v3.5 supercharger (v4 dispenser but v3 cabinet) that was open to non-teslas. I used the Tesla app first to activate the charger, plugged the NACS cable into my a2z adapter, then plugged the adapter into my Mini. However, the supercharger didn’t seem to detect the Mini, and the Mini dash began looping between the yellow preparing to charge and orange Calculating screens for a minute. I tried cancelling and retrying on the Tesla app, but the Mini was stuck in this loop. After around 5 minutes the car finally gave up and released the lock on the adapter.

Guess either the testing window is closed or older Mini SE has some compatibility issues. It’s odd though as I was able to successfully charge on a Magic Dock v3 supercharger before.

Probably a MAC address or Check digit saying its a Mini. The latest app update has Tesla HPC.

You have to spoof the vehicle and trick the Tesla SC station that it's another approved brand (Ford Mach-E, Genesis GV60, Mercedes EQS, etc.). The other thing is that Shell Recharge will be handing the payment if you aren't using the Tesla app directly. I've heard it could be up to a 25% extra premium.
