Same in Atlanta. I found fourteen new 2018 models, and two used. Ed Voyles, where I bought mine, had a single 2019 model at one time, but that one is gone, they have 0 in stock, and it has been that way for a while. Looks like they are not selling the Clarity anymore. Doesn't make me feel good about any future problems, so hope I don't have any.
 
Just figured out the Autel at work has access to this sort of data; figured some people here would appreciate the dump.
Car has roughly 6800 mi, battery capacity @ 53.8Ah. Will keep an eye on it over the coming months

I’d like to be able to pull that info out of my Clarity. Googled Autel and their obd scanner models are anywhere from $100ish to $2,000+. Any idea what the cheapest Autel model that will pull that data, graph and print?

We use the MaxiSys Elite, but I'm guessing any of the MaxiSys android/windows line which can generate a PDF will do. If you happen to know someone who works at a body/service shop, they likely have one of these units.

Edit: Cost of the license is what makes these units so damn expensive. You might be able to find someone willing to sell you the tablet/OBD for way less with an expired license. Because we work on new cars often, an up to date license is crucial

Edit2: If you're serious about buying a new unit, I got mine from newegg. Seller Autozon. New tablet/accessories cost less than the two year license renewal it comes with

Did anyone figure out how expensive a diagnostic tool you need to get Battery Capacity? I bought the Autel AP200 it uses an app Maxi-A200 but does not get battery capacity. It talks about a BMS, can"t get that to run but it appears to be for the 12 V system.
 
I suspect the traction battery status is only available with Honda's I-HDS diagnostic tool.
** I Stand Corrected ** didn't see the post a few back.

The Autel Maxisys is still a 'professional' type of tool that most of us would not entertain purchasing. This does give some hope that perhaps we can ultimately find a way to grab some of this data (battery capacity especially important) through the OBD2 port with a consumer grade tool of some kind.

I thought some of the temperatures on the report were interesting (I added the Fahrenheit values):

Air Temperature Inside the Vehicle 23 °C / 73 °F
Air Temperature Outside the Vehicle 27 °C / 81 °F
ES Coolant Temperature Sensor 35 °C / 95 °F
Engine Coolant Temperature 82 °C / 180 °F
Motor Temperature (gen) 47 °C / 117 °F
Motor Temperature (trc) 63 °C / 145 °F
Motor Winding Temperature (trc) 63 °C / 145 °F
Motor Magnet Temperature (trc) 59 °C / 138 °F
ATF Temperature (trc) 50 °C / 122 °F
Radiator Water Temperature (trc) 30 °C / 86 °F
HV Battery Module Temperature Sensor 25 °C / 77 °F
Battery Charger Temperature 1 29 °C / 84 °F

Also it lists each individual battery module, 84 modules on Line A and 84 modules on Line B. Each module is 3.9 Volts, Line A and Line B are each shown as 330 Volts so that means the modules in each line run in series (3.9 x 84). I have seen the Clarity battery listed elsewhere at 348 Volts so that means the two sides together run in parallel. I'm sure that info is also available elsewhere but it's interesting seeing it in an actual test.

There is a new green base model Clarity still on the lot here in SW Florida. I had to choose between it and a used 8900 mile gray touring. Bought the touring for a little more.

I feel the same way, bought it anyway. Time will tell. Goes against everything I know in automotive....but I like it. Hope it is dependable.

A tech at Autel said the cheapest unit that will give that pdf is the MS 906BT, $1,900 list. Seems to run around $1,200ish on Amazon. The tech says there might be warranty problems buying on Amazon (even new), but at least one comment said they registered the new unit okay at the Autel website. OTOH, it is easier to make a return to Amazon within the first 30 days (e.g. if we don't get the pdf with this tool; someone could double check with Autel, or a dealer too).

So, I have a possibly nutty idea. Probably most of us would like to get a copy of that PDF for our Clarity periodically (See AIAI post #22). Also, probably most of us would prefer not spend $1,200 for a high end auto tool that we might use infrequently.

My nutty idea, and I have no idea how to do this, Is what if somehow a large number of us buy one tool together and then send it around the group in some kind of round-robin system. I guess we could all post our pdfs too, and probably one or more folks would be interested in somehow combining the data for comparison.

If there were say at least 25 of us, the cost could be relatively low per part owner, maybe $60 or $70 plus the periodic shipping cost to the next member on the list.

Still realizing it's a somewhat nutty idea, we could even sort the list by geographic area so we could probably get one or two day UPS ground in many cases, not sure the cost, possibly $20ish (plus or including insurance for the tool?).

If we did something like this, it could be a first for an auto forum (?).

Domenick, is this possible project something INSIDEEVS might be interested in sponsoring in whole or part?

KentuckyKen, if interested, would you have time to manage a project like this for the group?

I’d chip in on that too. I’m even optimistic that it might work, since the people on this forum are the nicest I have run across on the Net.
Perhaps a deposit system using PayPal transfer? If anything kills this it will be the logistics. I’m willing to try.
First, I’ll try my local mechanic and see if his OBD can pull it. And it might be worth contacting Autel directly to see if they will tell us the lowest model that will do this.

You realize you won't be eligible for the $7500 federal tax credit with that used one though, right?

If it is not too difficult to run the routine and download the PDF, I think a group benefit would be to have as many full PDFs posted for those who would be interested in or willing to do some statistics and comparisons.

Also, a set of PDFs could be a database to draw from, if some odd question or problem shows up.
 
ScanGauge should somehow find out how much Clarity PHEV owners want to read the Battery Capacity Signal and add that capability. Autel's expensive device hooks to the same OBDII port, what does their software know that ScanGauge's software can't also obtain?
 
If I ever have some downtime at work, I'll plug the car back in and record the steps taken for you all. With any luck, your local body shop/mechanic might be willing to retrieve the data for a paltry sum.

Autel probably has some kind of relationship with Honda, probably a license agreement. Maybe the high end diagnostic companies like Autel get some kind of exclusive license to maintain their exclusive access to this level of detail. They may have to pay Honda (and other manufacturers) relatively large license fees, which might be part of the very high cost. It is interesting that such detailed data, including data for individual cell voltages is available.

I see some "gen." entries with units in "A", I wonder if any of those give the generator current? Maybe this box can answer the question of how big the generator is in kW?

Maybe most of the fine detail is less useful, but it is impressive how much detailed information can be had.
