2018 vs 2019 clarity

Kia k900 has camera on both left and right, and when you activate turn signal, video shows up in the cockpit. Pretty neat and how Honda shouldve done with Lanewatch.
 
Switching from my current BMW and Land Rover in the garage, I have to say I did miss not having the parking sensors, BSM, and rear cross traffic alerts. Now, after 2 weeks, I am OK with it - just takes a bit to get used to it.

Great car for commuting and in town trips.

Saves me over $200 in fuel compared to the gas hungry ICE cars I have....

It's almost always a matter of cost, not if they can do it. The K900 is $60k pricing, so you can pretty much put anything in it. The battery system and chassis are where the money went on the Clarity.

If they want to reduce cost, they could stop including junk like SiriusXM...
 
I have had satellite radio for over 10 years and have a perpetual subscription grandfathered from way back.
Love their no commercial channels.

Are you aware that SXM 2.0 is installed in our cars? Are you aware of the upgrades since original SXM?

We have 12 available presets. When you turn on the car, it starts "recording" all 12 of these channels (unless you are using an available multi-selector that allows you to toggle through four channels on individual presets.) You can rewind the channels and listen to a favorite song over and over.

OR - my favorite thing to do is:
After the car being on for a couple of minutes - press SCAN, then choose the option on the right for all stations. It will scan, from the oldest to the newest across all 12 preset stations 10 seconds at a time. When it hits a song you want, just press cancel and it continues playing the song. To resume, just hit the scan option as I just described, and it will resume scanning from where it left off previously.

I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want that! Oh, and if you pay attention - the cost is about $5/month.

$5 a month to get a measly one channel worth listening to, which I can find a better alternative to on normal FM radio in most areas that isn't limited to a pitifully short track list that obviously loops on any long drive. Sirius's so-called "commercial free" channels still have advertisements for Sirius itself, as if you weren't already using it and aware of what it is.

So don't subscribe.

I wonder how much the electronics to support Sirius actually adds to the bottom line price of the car. I wouldn't be surprised if Sirius didn't pay part of that cost. It would be a mutual benefit to both companies ... Honda gets to use it as a selling point, and Sirius reaps the subscription dollars for the folks who get hooked by the 3-month trial.

You haven't used Hyundai then.

Rear parking sensors are an accessory that can be installed by a dealer.
 
I has no idea it was recording audibto be able to play back. I wonder if and how much the SXM is slowing down then barely adequate processor in the infotainment system. And if it is affecting it when not used, is there a way to stop it? Or is this not even a possible issue?

I had a Civic Si with the same basic head unit in it that I traded on the Clarity. The OS in the head unit is slow; however, when you get into a function - Audio, Phone, Info, etc., the processing seems to be a bit better.

When you look inside "hidden" menus (topic for another discussion on another day) you can see that there is a lot of stuff going on in there (even the base models have GPS built-in, just the app isn't activated based on the VIN of the vehicle - others, in other Honda vehicle forums, are attempting to jail-break that, LOL.)

Having said all of that - the response is adequate when scanning through music, fast-forwarding and rewinding. See Owner's Manual pages 247-251 for info on what is going on with this.

I would gather after Canada, because the Canadian orders stopped early last year and they were short cars. Also I saw one Canada dealer listing 2019 Clarity as a model, the website didn't show car inventory though. One of the biggest US dealers didn't show any 2019 Clarity either.
