Good News! I am finally connected to the app! After unsuccessfully trying to get the code again this morning I called the Mini Connected helpline back after the 24 hours had elapsed since I last called them. Spoke to a nice lady who seemed to know what she was doing who sorted it all out within 2 minutes. No details required from the V5, she just added the car to my account at her end and now the app works. Sadly, the expected range has taken a hit after some enthusiastic driving on my first full tank of electricity, but at least I can see it now! 54565895-6126-46A3-A3CE-5A622C097B62.png

That’s great! And good news for me, too, Speedy, because I’ve been having the exact same problem since picking up my new car on Monday. I’ll call the MINI Connected helpline and cross my fingers that I speak with someone as adept at getting it sorted as you did. Thank you for sharing your experience for the benefit of folks like me! :)

Unfortunately I’m having ongoing issues with the app. I can see the car, SOC, etc. but currently none of the remote services are working. Mini say everything is activated on my car and my account but there’s a known issue affecting a number of cars where remote services aren’t working. They’re investigating the issue so hopefully there will be a resolution soon.

I haven't signed up because I don't want to provide an SS number either. I had identity theft years ago from a data breach. meMINI was not financed so there is no reason for them to need an SS number.

  9. In Canada, neither banks nor financing companies are allowed to require Social Insurance Numbers (the Canadian analog of US SSN.) for identification purposes. They can ask but you need not provide such information and they can not use it for any purposes other than those legally required for taxation purposes.
A SIN must not be allowed to become a single identity number.
Privacy laws in Canada do not mirror US law.

In the 70s the social security card used to say it was not to be used for ID purposes.
