Am I the only one who can get the HondaLink odometer readout to update after starting HondaLink from the main menu on the center screen? The car has been driven many times in the past 4 days, but this is what just happened:
    1. I look at HondaLink on my phone and see the Odometer as of Jul. 19 at 2:44 PM.
    2. I go out to the garage, put the Clarity in accessory mode
    3. I press Home, then HondaLink
    4. After Hondalink comes up, I press Home
    5. I turn off the Clarity
    6. I come back inside the house
    7. I look at my phone and see the Odometer as of Jul. 23 at 10:02 PM.

Am starting to experience the same behaviour. Used to be pretty rock solid. There must be a continuous update mode that was accidentally turned off. Any other Clarity owners have a solution? Of course, when you go to Honda.com the Clarity isn’t even listed as a supported vehicle. What’s with that?

I'd guess it wasn't accidental. Honda probably made the decision to reduce their data packet charges by reducing the frequency of HondaLink communications.

My Honda Link continues to update the odometer reading every day when I shut off the car unless the odometer hasn’t changed. It’s never missed doing so since I bought the car in Feb and I don’t have to do anything with the head unit for it to do so.

And I never get the angry bees, and have never gotten a warning message.
The inflated HV range was the only problem I’ve had and the update seems to have fixed that. So it’s possible to have a Clarity that behaves well in all respects.

I had been running app version 3.4.3 since December. Today it would not launch, telling me that it must be updated, so I was forced to update to 3.8.2 which was released 31 August.

Looks like Daily Charge Schedule changes are still buggy: about half the time it says it failed to update schedule, but reflected the new schedule anyway. Seems like someone has said the newer app versions no longer estimate the time until full. Any confirmation?

3.8.1 came out about a week ago, and now they are forcing you to run 3.8.2. It's interesting that when I updated to 3.8.1 I got a notification about a software update, but then I could not located it back in the app. The new version now shows it (top envelope icon) and it was for my Odyssey (which I updated back in April).

Is there a way to find out initial battery level at start of charge and how long it took to reach 100% ?

Just got my forced update this morning.

HondaLink notified me yesterday when charging was completed. Today I started the app and it couldn't retrieve any info from my Clarity. I cursed at the app and it responded by popping up a box: "Updates have been made to HondaLink. Your device must be updated to continue using this application." So I updated the app and now I can see my Range, Battery, Climate, Parking, and Odometer info. I wonder which curse word I used that did the trick?

Unfortunately no. Wish it had this as I am keeping track of how much I charge at home with the L1 charger.

On my HondaLink app, it tells me the battery percentage whenever I open the app. It also puts up a notification when it has stopped charging, so you could use this time to know how long it took to reach 100%, although you'd have to note what time you started charging.

I too got the forced update today after puzzling at the app for a few moments when it would not update. I notice that it did not put up a notification when it started charging at my scheduled time, so hopefully that's not a new glitch with the update because before it would notify me when it was charging and when charging stopped.

My ranges, charging % and status and odometer are updating regularly. The only weird thing is my "parking reminder" which is pretty out of date, right now it shows my car parked at 1:53pm which is not accurate. :) Otherwise it has been good. The Remote Conditioning has been AWESOME! :) Two thumbs up from me on that one. And combined with the data and updates from the ChargePoint app, it's a great bunch of tools for tracking what's going on.

My odometer on the app hasn't updated since March 12th. Approximately every 2 weeks, all of the features say "unable to retrieve information" so I have to log off and log back in and then it will update my battery range information. When I am in the car and press Hondalink on the center screen, it tells me to follow the instructions on the phone. Since I already have the app, the phone does not give me any instructions. Maybe there is a step I missed when I set up the app because I just went to the app store and purchased it, added my vin and set up the account. I have never used the in-car system and now the app is very unreliable.

    @Candice,
I’m sorry you’re having problems. As long as your phone and Clarity can both gat a good cellular signal, then it should update and all features should work.
Here are some things to try:
    1. Check cellular signal on phone and car. On the Clarity, it appears at shut down on the DDI (display behind steering wheel). You’ll see “TCU, an antenna icon and strength bars. It also displays on the Head Unit (center touch screen) at the top next to GPS and phone battery icons as antenna icon and bars. Check it where you park your car as the car sends updates when it turns off if milage has gone up enough.
If both have good signal, they should be able to reach Honda’s server so communication is possible.

    2. Check the GPS signal strength. At the main Nav screen (Select Home then Navigation) there is a set of signal strength bars for the GPS on left side. They increase and change color from amber to green when you get a good signal. Also the (satellite) icon at top will stop blinking. This signal is used by the locate my car feature. The antenna is in the dash so item on the dash may block this signal.

    3. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app on your phone to make sure there is not a problem with the install.
Use this link to be certian you’re installing the Honda Link for the Clarity as there are several on the Apple App Store and only one is for our Claritys. (Make sure Clarity is selected and scroll to bottom for the link to the Apple App Store)
Honda site on HL w link to App Store:

    https://hondalink.honda.com/#/compatibility?year=2018&model=Clarity Plug-In Hybrid

Install and set up as usual. Double check the VIN # is correct.

    4. If still not working, reset the center Head Unit by holding down the audio power button (top L) until you get the reset message. Car must be on.

    5. If all else fails and as a last resort, do a hard reset by disconnecting the negative cable to the battery for a few minutes (with car off).

    6. If none of this works, then try calling the Honda In-Car Tech Support at
    888 528-7876.
There have been mixed results posted as to the quality of help received, but when I called I got great help. And others have posted they helped when the dealer put the wrong info in the system.
And you can try a dealer; who knows, you might find one that actually knows something about it. (Miracles do happen)

Hope this helps and let us know how you got it working.

Thank you for detailed instructions! I know it takes you time to always provide extra info and it is always appreciated. I will try those steps and post the update.I know just enough about tech stuff to be dangerous...so in all honesty my default phone connected to the car is a flip phone. I have a work smart phone that I have the app installed on which is also connected to the car and I do not use AndroidAuto with it. Is it possible the car requires the smart phone to be the default phone? I would not be willing to make this change because all of my phone calls come through the flip phone.

    You’re very welcome.
I haven't tried setting up 2 phones with HL on one Clarity. I think that means that you set up the second phone under Manage Drivers as a Secondary Driver. I did that with my son so he could use HL to see where I’m at in an emergency. I think it gives it gives him full access to HL features.
I’d definitely make the smart phone the primary since I’m not sure the flip phone is supported. Ask the In-Car Tech Support if it is.

It is not fully supported. I can make calls but the call goes into limbo until I hit "transfer call" twice and then I can hear the person on the other end. Sometimes when I receive a call, the car does not give me the option to answer it, either on the center screen or on the steering wheel. Those issues are for a separate post. Mostly I want to be able to use Hondalink without having to log in and out every few weeks so I will try your recommendations.

Yeah, that is what I am doing now but it should be fairly easy for Honda to make the app remember the charge history.

BTW, looks like Honda has a different app for Fit and Accord Plug-in's - HondaLink EV

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.honda.hondalink.ev

Anyone know if this has better features and does it work with clarity ?

    Correction:
I am mistaken. The antenna symbol and bars at the top right of the head unit next to the Bluetooth Symbol are not the TCU signal strength but are rather your cell phone’s signal strength. I incorrectly assumed that the identical antenna icon meant they were the same and you know what what you make when you a*s-u-me. You can still check the TCU cellular signal strength at DDI at shut down.
My apologies for the incorrect info in original post.

    Correcting an old post:
The TCU signal strength can be checked on the DDI at shut down but the same antenna icon and signal strength bars at the top right of the head unit next to the Bluetooth icon is for your paired phone NOT the TCU.
My apologies for the incorrect info.

I had a similar problem a month or two ago and called Honda support. Was pleasantly surprised at how the very first person that answered the phone walked me through a relatively painless, but slightly non-intuitive sequence and since then everything is working fine. She [the technician] attributed this to an iOS upgrade that I'd gone through just before the problem occurred and essentially required me to reinstall the app and pair the phone to the car again. Have really appreciated the remote climate feature. It's really nice to slip into a cool car on these hot days.
