It looks like your Juicebox 40 was supplying 3.8 kW, well below the 7.7kW it is capable of delivering. That might be because you began to charge at 80% and were already on the taper, or, more likely, because you have not yet changed your Level II max charging rate from the default 3.8kW rate to 7.4 kW rate, in the car's menu settings. Hate for you to be missing out on half your charging speed!

I wonder how long dealer prep takes? I just checked the garage and it’s at the dealership!

Mine took two days to "wake up from transport"...

I had such an exciting experience at the dealership the day my SE arrived--I'm so glad I didn't wait for the call to come take delivery! I knew the transporter was due that day, but I didn't know if it had come before I arrived in the early afternoon. I was driving our Honda Clarity slowly around the dealer's lot, looking at all the MINI Coopers, trying to spot one with yellow mirrors.

I crept around the side of the dealership and was passing about 40 feet in front of the service department's large garage door. Suddenly, the garage door opened and before it was fully open my car BURST out with two mechanics inside! It seemed like they were coming straight at me at high speed, but I'm sure the driver would have zipped around the rear end of my Clarity if I hadn't kept moving.

Luckily there was no person or car in front of me because I was afraid to jam on the brakes, but I couldn't tear my eyes away from the spectacle of finally seeing the car I'd ordered a year earlier--and seeing it in rampant action! In a second they had passed by me so I put my Clarity in park and jumped out to see where they were going. They took a hard left towards the front of the dealership's lot, a hard right onto Jackson Road, and quickly disappeared from view.

Some might find it disturbing to see their new car being driven this hard before they even had a chance to touch it, but not me. For me it was an absolute thrill! I knew this mechanic had driven countless MINI Coopers quickly and wanted to find out how this newfangled electric MINI compared. I knew that, unlike an internal combustion engine, there was no break-in period for the electric motor powering my Cooper, so hard acceleration early in it's life was not a problem. Best of all, I knew that I wouldn't have to wait more than another few minutes to sit in my MINI Cooper SE for the first time.

I was hoping I could take my SE for a quick spin after the mechanics returned from "calibrating the TPMS," but it was not to be. After more than a month of sitting at the UK port, after the long ocean journey, after a mercifully short 2-day stay at the Baltimore port, after 2 days of transportation to Michigan, and after the mechanics' high-speed test-drive down Jackson Road, there were a scant 4 miles of range left in the battery. Not wanting to challenge the Guess-O-Meter, I decided I could wait to drive my beautiful new SE. Just sitting in those comfortable seats and playing with the infotainment system was enough to make me very happy.

It was the best new-car experience I've ever had. And the joy continues.

    More grrrr from me.

Ship was supposed to pull in for its fourth stop since leaving Southampton at 9pm in San Diego. It has stopped short.

Sure hope it has made its stop and set sail for Oxnard by the time I awake. I’m afraid the California ports being overburdened may delay this long awaited moment!

  9. What an awesome experience. Thanks for sharing.

-Does the SE play video files off USB, say while you are charging? What else can you/did you have on while sitting inside whilst it was inhaling electrons?

I don't believe the SE has any inherent way to play video files. Perhaps it's possible to play videos through Apple CarPlay or the Android Auto for iDrive project that @Puppethead mentioned. Otherwise, your phone (or, horror, a book) is your charging buddy.

  13. A book?! :) What about climate control while you charge? Heating, cooling, etc.

Highly unlikely AppleCarPlay will ever play videos on the screen. It would have to be locked down for the car being in park to do that, given the likelihood some idiot would try to play videos while driving.

You can do everything with the car while it's charging, except move (it won't let you go into drive while the charging cable is plugged in).

I have actually tried this. It wasn't really that helpful to have. Major components of AA are missing unfortunately. My streaming music works fine without it.

Heating/cooling can be done while charging.

I'm actually more anxious about my car arriving *too soon*. The Clean Fuel Rewards website still hasn't added the 2022 MINI as eligible for the rebate. I bugged them on Friday and they still said they are working on it, but have no timeline. :(

It's getting real, people! My appointment is Friday at 11 AM to pick up my Mini. As @bldxyz predicted, the bonnet stripes are back ordered. My salesman Kevin is searching for any "rogue" stripes in the area to acquire before I go Friday, but I told him it's not a show stopper (of course).

EDIT: Basically, none of my add-ons have arrived yet - roof rails, shorty antenna, and all weather mats. All are due on on Friday except for the bonnet stripes. And he sent me a pic of her getting charged up!

Looks like my boat is spending the day in San Diego. Docked there overnight. Still moored.

I need to go in and update the spreadsheet once I get all of the milestone dates together, but in the meantime, back in February I decided to forego picking up the 2021 SE that I had ordered in favor of the facelifted 2022. I'm excited to report that the Polaris Highway arrived in Galveston, TX on 4/11 and my mini is scheduled to arrive at the dealership this Friday!

Leaving San Diego! Scheduled to arrive Oxnard tonight, which would be the day before schedule! Yay?

    I hear you.

The last time I chatted with them, however, they said that if I got my car before the website was updated, I could contact them, or have the dealer contact them. I plan to chat with those Clean Fuel Reward people on Friday (since the earliest I might get the car is Sunday) and get the precise instructions to follow to be able to get that $1500 discount at the point of sale. I will report back on the Clean Fuel Rewards thread you stared, QSpinach, with what they tell me.
