Signed up for the Satellite Tracking free trial. My boat is looking like it will be on time to its 3rd stop (out of 4 before my destination).

Chatted with the dealer today and it’s still processing at the port. Outside chance we get it this weekend but most likely next week. The dealer still needs to put on the black bonnet strips and install the mirror caps and the shorty antenna. That should take an hour but you know dealers.

Must be different where you are. My dealer said today that the short antenna and bonnet stripes weren't available at the port (which it seems is where they get them installed). I don't know what this will mean for delivery.

Mine is on that same boat! Can't wait for it to get here! I've learned so much about boat carrier in this process, and looked up how Panama canal works. Fascinating stuff, and would never have learned if not for getting a Mini!

Same here! Did you catch it going through the canal locks on Tuesday on webcam? I had to save some images...

I did not know you can do that. But this is very cool!!! Thanks for sharing! I really have a whole new respect for the different technologies and people that are making this happen! I did joke with my wife that hopefully there was no big wind on the canal... like what happened to the Suez.

One thing I have learned tracking these digital dots across the ocean for 2 1/2 weeks - you can google various port web sites and see all kinds of arrival times posted for your ship, and almost every single estimate has been dead wrong. My Mini sales guy emailed me yesterday morning that my ship was going to arrive in Georgia yesterday at 6 PM. I knew that was not accurate because I could see my ship was just leaving the channel up near Baltimore. I just pulled up my ship tracking and it is still chugging off the coast of South Carolina this fine morning. It should get there today. Finally.

If you REALLY want to know where your ship is during its voyage, you pretty much need to pay $16 for a month of satellite tracking. That includes a 7 day free trial, which allowed me to track my ship from England to Virginia, but when my trial expired the AIS tracking was very spotty off the coast of the US. It kept showing my ship was still in the North Atlantic. So I paid.

Just in case this is helpful, I have been using FleetMon. With the free account, one has access (for 15 min / day) to their "live tracking" service. I don't think it's satellite tracking, but it's better than other websites, where the ship location gets stuck on the sea once it moves out of the land AIS signal. In FleetMon, you still can see the boat moving across the ocean and that was quite enough for me, just knowing where it is.

My boat pulled into the third stop a few hours early. Now... waiting until it departs for San Diego.

    Big sigh.

Now it is leaving for San Diego, expected there late Tuesday. Let’s hope it isn’t delayed getting in to port, since it has to sail to Oxnard to get to my port!

Good news, annoying news on this front. Mini arrived at the dealer yesterday. Yay. They installed the shorty antenna but are still waiting on the stripes...fine we can do that later. So we arranged for a pickup today. Sales guy just emailed me and the technician who specializes in the EVs couldn’t get to the inspection yesterday and he doesn’t work on Saturday...so we can’t get her until Monday. In the big scheme of life not a big deal but dang it !!!!

Ah man - sorry! That would have been sweet to have it for the weekend. My ship arrived in Georgia yesterday - it appears to be the next ship queued to get to the actual dock. So my car should be close to getting offloaded.

I asked my salesman and he said all of my stuff (shorty antenna, roof rack, bonnet stripes) will be done at the port before it gets to the dealer. Weird how that is different depending on the dealer.

Replacing the whip antenna with the Sport Aerial takes about 15 seconds. Applying bonnet stripes, however, requires actual skill. I'd venture a guess that only high-volume dealers would have a bonnet-stripe specialist on-staff. Does your dealer move a lot of MINI Coopers (eg, are there more than 2 Motoring Advisors)?

I’m not sure. I’ve only been to the dealer once for the SE test drive.

Just an FYI: my dealer said the local port shop did not have the bonnet stripes or shorty antenna either. He said that they would deal with it after delivery if they didn’t come in on time. I will ask them to honor the port pricing for those items since it was part of my build from December, and I’ll need to make a trip back to them to get the work done.

The port shop has one job. How do they run out of those parts? :). Just kidding. I know stuff happens.

They were breaking in a new trainee--many bonnet stripes were used. "Nope, newbie, try again."

My dealer said it was done in port, but if forgotten they can do it at the dealership too. Not sure mine is high volume or not but it is something they said they do regularly
