A big time GRRR moment. The ASK MINI folks just told me that the port will not get the car to my dealer for FIVE days.

Looks like my road trip will be with my ICE car after all. I was getting excited. Bah!

Yeah, I guess I misread the spreadsheet. Five days for me, but in the Delivery Spreadsheet, from At Destination Port to At Dealership, I see the following examples:

8 days to San Jose, CA
    5 days to Pleasanton, CA
2 days to San Jose, CA
    3 days to Pleasanton, CA

So best case, it would have gotten to the dealer on Saturday, and they would have to turn it around in a day or two, despite my dealer's statement that they take 2-3 days for that. I don't get why the port takes so many days AND the dealer takes so many days! All the port-installed options are out of stock

Thank you..exactly the issue. I wish I had seen your response prior to calling Enel and then Mini. Actually both experiences were great but it took Mini 30 mins to figure it out . But all good now.

Loving the Electric Mini life so far. Good luck to all those awaiting their ships to come in. Lol.

Do let us know! I did chat with a Clean Fuel Reward rep a week ago and she was confident that SE will be added this month. Fingers crossed that it'll be soon!

Also, the boat has finally arrived at the port now, ending my incessant tracking of that little dot on the map! Interesting that on My MINI, it showed that the boat was at the port yesterday, so clearly only reflecting the scheduled arrival date, and not the actual docking (the boat was supposed to arrive yesterday but had a 1 day delay). In any case, it's almost here and I can't wait to get the car!!

Unless my car goes out of the port tomorrow, I’ll be delaying contacting them for a week, since I won’t get my car until the end of the month, it seems.

I'll keep you guys posted as well if I hear anything from my dealer. Enjoy your road trip though.

  13. Seems to take 12-14 days. Our MINIs should be out to sea 24-26 April is my guess.

Yeah, mine has been there a week too. Was really hoping that it would be picked up by the Apollon Highway that just left Southampton, but no luck. Not sure if that means more processing/testing needs to be done at the dock, or there was just no room on the boat. At least it looks like 2-3 cars on the spreadsheet were loaded up.

    Maybe next week ...

If you track your digital ship and check at the right time - watch for tugs pulling it away from the dock in Southampton. Then pull up one of the Southampton live cams on youtube to see if you can watch it go by. I got lucky and happened to catch my ship at the right moment. I think it was the "Box cam" port cam.

As the pandemic's first wave hit the shipping industry last Summer, my SE sat in Southampton for more than a month. I believe the only testing done there is whether the tires still hold air and if there's enough charge in the battery to roll the car onto the ship.

I wonder if the port is waiting to have enough cars to put on a car carrier truck to head to my area. You’d think a ship that came from effectively a MINI port would have loads, but there were two ships that left the same day as mine, each pulling in one after the other.

I’m just stunned that it would take 5 days. It doesn’t make sense for that car carrier vehicle to take more than a day to truck 400 miles. So it must be batch processing, or some under-capacity for whatever they do with the cars at port.

You have probably seen this but I came across this article about what vehicle distribution centers do once cars arrive at the port:
    https://bimmerlife.com/2018/08/11/a-rare-trip-inside-a-bmw-vehicle-distribution-center/

So it looks like they do quite a bit of tests and some initial preps, like adding kits to the car, as well as certain mods. So more than just moving cars onto carrier trucks and maybe that's why it can take longer sometimes, especially if they have a lot of cars to process through.

Oh, hold up! Apparently "My Garage" was a bit behind on the status! Looks like my car did make it on Apollon Highway! Estimated arrival at Brunswick port on April 28. You guys might want to hit refresh on your page as well.

And of the orders I am tracking in 2021, you now hold the record with only a 3-day UK port delay! Lucky dog. The average is closer to 10 days.

LOL, well, that was only because my transition from "Dispatched from Factory" to "At the port" took 4 days to make the 1.5 hour trip.
    But I'll take it ...
