So do we have everyone accounted for in this thread? No Mini left behind? lol Based on the ships in Bremerhaven currently, Orion is behind the one with the white top in the top center. That is Coral Leader. The big one with just a little white on top just left of top center is Themis. The half white/half blue about 1/3 from the right is Triton Ace.
So - it looks like our time in QC will cost us the $7500 tax credit. I plan on asking mini for some compensation (assuming I ever get the car and decide to go ahead with the purchase) - who’s with me? Strength in numbers…
Well my MA was unresponsive and at the time i thought we were ok as long as it was delivered this year. Now it looks like that is not the case. Very frustrated that our time in QC could end up costing me $7500! Having serious doubts at this point.
This kinda stinks. It appears the new law states if you have a binding contract, you are good with being grandfathered with the prior $7500 tax credit. I’ve looked at my email conversations with sales person. It looks like the $250 is a refundable deposit. That doesn’t seem to be binding, even though the custom order was placed and I have a car with VIN # in My Garage. I called Ask MINI and they do not have an answer.
exactly - i have asked my MA what they can offer to help out but he replied that they are still looking into it.
There's no incentive to brief Ask MINI's staff on how the new law works because every 2023 SE MINI sends over will be sold, regardless of tax-credit availability, and next year there will be no tax credits available for the SE whatsoever.
I happened to check Orion Highway just now and there are tugs attached!!! Then again, it might just be moving to a different berth in Bremerhaven.
It’s been a fun ride, but I guess I’m out of here. My Sales rep says “I certainly sympathize…and wish this (new tax credit law) hadn’t happened.“ “Unfortunately we are all going to be affected blah blah blah but we have no solutions to offer you.” I “do not have a binding contract with MINI”.
That's a really poor job by your MA as there are ways to demonstrate you entered into a binding contract for tax purposes. I suppose it's up to each individual dealer. Themis Leader is currently crossing the Atlantic ocean right now.
Maybe I’ll stick it out for a few weeks and see if any changes or loopholes for the MINI SE come to fruition. I actually did get a binding contract with Fisker Ocean. They were on top of things and sent a letter making orders binding the day before new law signed. I’ll be waiting for that EV instead. On the bright side is that this was an order for a second SE. we got our first one in May and love it. The second was just too good a deal to pass up.
let’s see if we can gain any traction. I hav ever mini usa know that our circumstance (QA delays) is the exact cause of us missing out on th tax credit. Let’s see what they offer. i feel your pain and am not certain of my path forward which sucks after months of being super invested…..
I contacted the VP through liknedin to find out when they would open up the system to order blue. It didnt help much, but if the car was in QC, and the delay is the singular cause, you may have some traction. good luck.
Can you share who it was? I just requested to connect with a VP of BMW North America and he accepted. Plan on crafting a message to him asking for some relief…
I got no reply from MINI USA VP Mike Peyton when I wrote to him begging to PAY $1,500 extra to get the less expensive scoopless base MINI hood on my SE. So if offering to pay more money won't get a response, I doubt asking to spend less money will be successful.
Probably true but it can’t hurt to try - those of us who got randomly stuck in QC saw a more than 20% cost increase and all the while MINI assured us this was perfectly normal. I do have a documented conversation with a BMW rep who stated that if the delay caused me to miss my state rebate that MINI would be willing to work with me - based on a previous case he had seen.
