for me it’s not about any of that - it’s two things - I want to get my car in time to get the $2500 state rebate (and there’s a weird window on that i don’t fully understand all the rules around) and, dammit - i was prepared to wait awhile but then the car made so much progress that i truly began to think it would be soon, so i started getting excited. To see it stall and have other cars keep streaming past it is so painful…
I have basic Sig BRG / matching roof with black Leatherette seating, 16 inch victory wheel - at the PORT since Jun 7th - I think awaiting a vessel assignment - so apparently it may be just poor luck.... ??? sorry man order date march 29 .
I sent a follow up email to MINI since it has been 17 days (!) since my last message. I provided a link to this forum and asked them to escalate the issue to provide some kind of insight. Will share whatever I hear back.....
lol, I replied to @miniusa's response to my tweet from 10 days ago this morning. Just a response like 'waiting for a head unit' or something would be nice, but I know sometimes cars get damaged in the factory, etc. It's a low percentage, but it happens. I just can't believe it would be this many all from about a week in the middle of May.
My MA messaged me yesterday out of the blue. He said they are still trying to figure this out. They have emailed several people at the factory and they finally “got some movement”, he will let me know as soon as he gets a response.
I've been checking www.stuckinqualitycheck.com and getting the same amount of movement as myminigarage.com lol Fingers crossed, for the past 29 days.
Any glimmer of hope that this is a “glitch” in the tracking system and our cars are actually on the boats headed this way?
We've talked about that in this thread, I was holding out for that but at this point don't think that's the case. My sales manager got a reply from a contact at Mini USA that wasn't very promising. I posted it a page or 2 ago.
So......I have some news - nothing earth shattering or even terribly helpful, but I did gain some insight. Brandon from BMW called (showed up on Caller ID as simply TOLL FREE CALL so I did not answer - luckily he left a voicemail and a direct line to call back). Essentially he stated that he had no additional insight but could hypothesize on what's happening and was able to answer a few questions. He believes that something in our vehicles failed QC and needs to be replaced. Based upon past experience, he is suggesting that it was amjor component. He said that when a vehicle enters QC, it is the QC team that then completes the vehicle and that they conduct another full round of QC on the vehicle before releasing it. The QC team is much smaller and it definitely takes longer. He also stated that in addition to parts being in short supply, they are also scrutinizing the quality of parts more carefully than ever before and thinks that could be a contributing factor. He stated that 2 weeks in QC is not that unusual but 4 weeks is rare. I pointed out that there is a growing number of us on this forum (which I sent a link to - so, if you are reading this, 'Hi Brandon - thanks again for calling me back.'). He stated that my VIN has been flagged and he will monitor and, if the case is not resolved in 2 weeks or so he will escalate. He said he does not personally have any contacts in the factory that he can access but that dealers often do. I had asked what was a reasonable expectation going forward and he stated to give it 2 weeks as I wrote above. I told him I would be posting this but would not be sharing his direct phone number - he thanked me for that and suggested you all reach out to ASKMINI so that they flag your accounts and can try to get a better sense of what's going on. He did state that he had seen this sort of thing only 4 times before and in one case where the whole vehicle needed to be rebuilt, the company worked with the customer. I shared that I was hoping that my vehicle is not delayed beyond a certain window to qualify for the state rebate of $2500. He said he would make a note of that for my file so that, if it is delayed, the company is aware of that concern and 'might' be willing to work with me on price. All in all, a good conversation and I appreciate that MINI responded within hours of me sending them my follow up inquiry. Brandon's a good guy and hopefully will get us some answers. Wally
So I am wondering, if bimmer.work VIN info gives you the production date and confirms when the car is fully completed, for those waiting in QC, is the production date confirmed with Bimmer? That would technically confirmed that your car is done and maybe the US mini website is not updated. And if you do not have the production date, possibly their is something missing to complete the car. I am in Canada, and other then Bimmer.work…we do not have much info. I am now thinking my mini might also be in QC since I got the VIN on May 5, and Bimmer hasn’t confirmed a production date…Just an idea. Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Inside EVs
Bimmer gives me a production date of 0001-01-01. I got my VIN back in April and the Prodcution date was 5/16 (which is also the date I got stuck in QC). Per history above I have been advised the car is complete and records were modified on 6/1 but I am not sure that report was accurate. There's a whole lot of history here and almost zero certainty (even when I have been in contact with MINI).
I'm on hold again with ASKMINI, took 15 minutes to get someone even and she was completely unhelpful, said there was no way to 'flag' anything, and that it's just the normal process. Ugh, I got off the phone with her pretty quickly. 4+ weeks is not normal...
so in my email, I specifically stated that i was asking them to escalate the issue. I was shocked to get a call in under 2 hours. who knows - could all be about managing me rather than the vehicle production….but i got the sense that brandon was more than a call center agent reading a script….
