More detailed pictures of the Flexcharger would be greatly appreciated. Specs (cord length, output (voltage/amperage), etc) would be great as well. Even better would be a manual if it came with one! Sorry to bug with so many requests/questions, but being the first 2023 delivery I've seen, you get that special privilege!
Here's the best photo I found showing what you would get in North America. I tried looking online but couldn't find the part number for the Flexible Fast Charger from BMW. I'm getting a free Grizzl-e Classic from MINI Canada but it might be worth it to sell and buy this one instead with its portability.
The description you link to before pretty much had it correct. It has a pretty big electronics box (10”x4.5”x2.75”) that you can plug various adapters. The whole thing with adapters attached is probably just under 21’ tip to tip, or perhaps just over 20’ of actual reach. The cord is twice as think as the 120V charger. It comes with both a NEMA 5-15 and a NEMA 14-50 adapter. No manual. Max output is 40A/9.6kW at 240V and 10A/1.44kW at 120V. i took a few pictures, but someone will have to walk me through how to post them here.
That max output of 40A is higher than advertised on the training slide (guessing they referenced 7.7 since the SE can't take anymore than that). Nice to know it'll go higher though! As for posting pics - if you have them on a folder on your computer, you can simply drag and drop them into a message. If it's from your phone you'll have to click the "Upload a File" and then choose the pictures from your photo library. Then you can insert the full image or thumbnail into your reply message using the button next to each photo that you uploaded.
There you go, a picture of the electronics box, specs and optional accessories. With the 40A max, looks like you can happily use it for other cars in your garage.
The L2 speed is dependent on the plug you have at home. My dryer plug in the garage only uses NEMA 14-30, so I would be limited to 5.7kW whereas a NEM 14-50 would be able to utilize the full 7.4kW of the MINI. Here is a photo from the manual of the Flexible Fast Charger I found online:
Thanks kindly! The pamphlet with accessories is new as well, great to see they should hopefully have other plug options in the future as well! Similar to the one that came with my Mach-E, though Ford so far hasn't offered any additional plug options.
Also after you drag&drop, click full image and it will be displayed in the thread instead of a thumbnail.
Because an EVSE deal from a maker/dealership would nullify the $600 Quebec EVSE rebate, I opted for the $500 MINI Canada “March Special” instead of the $649 Grizzl-E voucher. I still plan to order a Grizzl-E Smart as soon as I get a VIN and a Build Week, but if Canadian 23s are delivered with the FFC I’ll gladly accept it and forgo the “smart” capabilities and wall mounts (etc).
Not sure. The MA offered it to me when I was worried that the clock would run out on the Quebec rebates at the end of March and I had no idea when it’d get delivered (before the government announced the extension). It appears on my order sheet though. Notice all the stupid add-ons. They even tried to include the winter mats without telling me but I got them removed.
MINI Canada offers either Grizzle wall box or $500 accessories credit (but installation labor excluded, such as bonnet stripes, you would still have to pay for the installation labor with the $500 accessories credit). It’s in the fine print not just March Special AFAIK. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Ah, yes. But at the time I ordered, both offers were ending March 31 (and to get the Grizzl-E voucher, delivery had to be made by May 31, which looked unpossible even in mid-March).
I had the same worries as you , down payment in Jan 2022, must take delivery by end of March, but this offer being extended month by month for the past 12 months or so, took delivery in early April, no issue with getting the voucher.
Yeah MA told me it had been extended every month for about a year. However, it has indeed been removed from the web site since the end of March. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is a sweet bit of kit, outdoes the Tesla portable EVSE because of the higher output. How long until we can get it as a part, I wonder.
